I returned the first one I ordered as it just didn't feel sturdy. This one, on the other hand, is made of heavier steel tubing that is padded and it's mounted to my bed with screws not straps. Great add on to my bed

My mother in law has had some difficulty getting out of her adjustable bed with a soft memory type mattress. It is designed to be secured to the platform for stability, which for some reason she was reluctant to do. Once I showed her where it would screw in and that it wouldn't damage anything, she was ok with it. She loves the stability it gives her in getting out of bed.

I can't move well anymore, so this was meant to make it easier for me to get out of bed. Works very well. I have an adjustable bed frame, so I didn't put the screws into the frame like you can. Still works well enough to make getting out of bed much easier, even not bolted down. I'm 6'6" and 400lbs, but this still works for me. A+

Just a note that this isn't just for elderly folk. Accessibility needs are real, and anyone of any background can need the extra support. I have lower back and leg issues that sometimes make it difficult for me to get out of bed. This is a really nice bed assist bar that I can bear my weight down on when I need to get up with less difficulty. It wasn't hard to assemble, but if you have accessibility needs, you might need help lifting your mattress to get the horizontal bar under there. I have a bunch of books, a reading light, eye mask, and bonnet in the side bag too. The device overall is really great for sleep support when you need it, and its sturdily made.
