  • This stuff is great, and here are some helpful hints!!
Size: 36in X 49ft
We are doing a big remodel on an 50 apartment building we own. We had over 120 windows to tint all told... I got this mainly so that we couldn't see into peoples apartments because they always want to hang weird curtains and have destroyed blinds because of dogs and cats and it just makes the place look junky. After doing over 100 windows (not kidding... I am an expert now) I can tell you that it is amazing how this stuff blocks the heat and light. Even on winter on days when it is in the 40-50's, you still get a lot of heat and light when you are in the window facing the sun. As soon as I put this up and hit it with the squeegee, you could feel the difference. So now we have a neat looking property and happy tenants because they will have cooler apartments and nobody can see in during the day time. Wait until Summer they will really be happy!! Here is a few pointers and tricks and hopefully helpful hints: Make this a two person project. It makes it 10X easier. Mainly for peeling the plastic backing off. Start in one corner, and have a helper take the clear plastic side, then have them even out, grab the other side and pull straight down. Once it is off, then THEY use the soapy water spray to wet the backing side, and they can spray the window too. Then YOU can just lay it on the window evenly at the top and it will fall into place. Squeegee side to side all the way down with a big squeegee (like 6-8" softer rubber) THEN use the hard plastic one they provide in every box. Wrap a micro fiber towel over the hard included squeegee. Use blue tape to separate the pieces of film. I can't imagine try to do it with fingers. With blue tape, you put a piece on each side of a single corner, and then use the tape to pull apart the two sides. With blue tape they have enough sticky strength to pull them apart, but then they easily come apart. If you are doing more than one window, spend $10 and buy a 48" metal ruler at Lowes or Home Depot. You don't want to use a short one and try moving and cutting and moving and cutting to get a long single cut. Some of our cuts were 58" long, and that is hard enough moving it once. Try to measure the windows and precut the film to size. We left a 1/4" gap all the way around, which you can NOT see from the outside when looking at the building. We had 40 year old windows with a lot of paint and silicone and stuff stuck on them so it was hard to clean them well enough to get it right up to the edge and trim it in place. We got it down to where it was taking about 4 minutes per glass panel to put on the film. Cleaning took way more time that. For your own place, shoot for 1/8 all the way around for the gap. So to recap: Bring a friend, try to precut, get a good squeegee, use blue tape and be patient. ... show more

  • Great once you get the hang of it
Size: 36in X 49ft
I love that this works well with reducing heat in my home and has a mirrored effect during the day. It's not hard to install in smaller pieces and once you get the hang of it it gets easier. Definitely helps to have 2 people however I did mine alone. The box comes with a good razor blade and squeegee (padded so you don't scratch it) however I did use scissors when cutting out of the box for a straight edge. Tips. I allowed 1-2 inches extra over the size of my window to prevent waste. The more the better in case you don't start super straight. PLENTY OF SOAPY WATER AND EVERYWHERE. After cleaning the windows really well I covered the window in soapy water. Then it helps to spray the film also in case you need to move it because if there's not a lot of water the adhesive works very quickly and can cause tiny creases when you try to remove it. Once I got one side in line and squeegeed (to help it stay in place .. again I was alone) then I sprayed the other side of the window again and slowly peeled the film while squeegeeing the rest of the window. I still had to go over it again (diagonal motions from the center worked best) and then focused on the edges before trimming. Another tip is I had old caulk along the glass that gave me trouble when cutting straight or it sticking, so I recommend looking at that first. Not rushing and taking my time made sure it didn't look bad. The imperfections only I will notice. ... show more

  • Love it
Size: 36in X 49ft
It's perfect! House is a little darker but a slight tweak to my automated lighting system balanced everything out. I don't know about anyone else but it seems to also keep the wanted heat inside the house. I've never applied tinting before and the learning curve wasn't bad at all. Very happy. I've grown to love that it turns into a mirror inside the house, It really helps the lighting at night. ... show more

  • Satisfied
Size: 36in X 49ft
The one way privacy works really well. I can barely see the blinds through it with my face pressed to the glass. I did notice the heat/UV intensity rejection immediately after installing. Install was fairly easy but be sure to use lots of water solution especially on a hot day. Also, follow their advice and add an inch of length to width and height, measure each window separately because they do very slightly, even if its the same window (separate glass). The film wasn't perfectly free on blemishes but that doesn't bother me much. Be careful while peeling off the backing, get some help or use some tape to hold it in place (double side some tape) if the film folds together it will surely stick together and ruined. Apply water as you remove backing to give it weight, this will help keep it from moving as well as help if it does fold. You may want a bigger squeegee if doing several large windows. ... show more

  • Worked wonderfully!
Size: 36in X 49ft
This items works wonderfully. The left photo in each picture is with tint, the right side is without tint. The room is so much cooler now. We took our time while applying the tint and had 2 people during the process, as our windows are very large. One person made sure the window and film stayed wet while the other person applied the tint. We used LOTS of soapy water and made a little of a mess with that, but I was anticipating that. I plan to buy more in the future to tint my glass doors. ... show more
