  • Not just for (boils).
I punched a hole with a stepped drill and installed a bulkhead valve. I use this 10 gallon pot as a bottling vessel for my homemade wine. Not planning to use for boiling just bottling wine. I love the gallon marks and the handles are welded on solidly. Yes it is thin stainless but certainly fine for cooking and bottling. And the price is attractive. ... show more

  • Just arrived :-)
I am using this pot to heat apple must in a 5 gal still, a poor man's version of a double-walled still. It doesn't really matter what it looks like, and it just needs to hold and boil the water. That fact that it arrived bent was easily fixed. After one 6-hour run on the outdoor propane burner I can say that it seems to work well. It is the perfect size. No more burning of the apple must. It was easily cleaned after that and I did not notice any degradation of the material inside or outside. This should last years and if it does, it was worth the money. ... show more

  • It being Stainless and being Heavy-Duty
**** I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT**** IT IS A GREAT PRICE FOR THIS BRAND AND IT IS STAINLESS STEEL INSTEAD OF BEING MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM (Most of the Aluminum Stock Pots WILL NOT hold up to very multiple long cooks!!!! IT'S A VERY HEAVY-DUTY STOCK POT!!!! I really like the price of this Stainless Steel 40 qt Stock Pot. I was looking for one that was heavy-duty stainless steel for boiling peanuts. Most of the one's I was looking at was very expensive. This particular pot is a Great name brand and well worth the money. It was the only one I could find that was actually cheaper than other 40 qt. Also it was cheaper than most of the 30 qt pot. I LOVE IT!!! Thank you ... show more

  • I was way outside of the box
In fairness to the this pot, I was certainly not using it in an intended way. However I will note that when I received it I could clearly tell that this was a very light duty pot made extremely cheaply. The bottom would flex under the lightest of touch. Things being what they are under quarantine and not wanting to wait another 2 months to get a different pot I decided to forge ahead with my diabolical plan of making a vacuum chamber to degas resins and silicone. I want a stainless pot because they hold up best under some of the acidic gasses created. After months of waiting for all of the parts to arrive, I got to work assembling knowing full well that this pot was the weakest link in the chain. Everything seemed to be going well, custom made silicone gasket check, vacuum pump and gauges check, stock pot check. I flipped the switch to the vacuum pump and opened the valve to begin and the needle on the gauge began to move. Under about 2 inches of mercury sides and bottom grew taught and began to buckle I decided to stay the course, the sounds of flexing metal filling my basement. Once the pump reached 10 inches of mercury the pot jumped violently and a loud flexing sound was heard, I could then hear the sound of leaking air rushing in through a small hole as the pot slowly grew ever smaller continuing to be further crushed. It was at that point that I turned off the pump, not because I was concerned about the pot but rather the stability of the base that my tempered glass lid was resting on. Anyway this pot was good for a hearty belly laugh at my own failure, and in the future I would not purchase it even if I were to use it the way it was intended as it is devilishly light duty. Spend a little more and get something that will last. ... show more
