I first orderd 1000 Large crickets that were shipped right away. When they got here I noticed they were packaged nicely and then I got a good look at one of the critter. Those are some seriously LARGE Crickets. After opening the box and transferring its contents to the cricket keeper, I noticed over 1/2 the crickets were dead. It was the end of June and we had just been hit with a week long heat wave, with days of Temps around 107. It had just been too hot for them is all. I went ahead and filed a claim on the Amazon site.. And Bassett's Cricket sent me an e-mail right away letting me know they were reseeding. Three days latter, I received at least 1000 LARGE crickets.     • Definitely not jumbo 1”
Suppose to be 1” jumbo and they was maybe 3/8” or 1/2” tiny. Out of 1000 maybe 10 was over 1/2”. Do not order from here. Rip off.

    • Fabulous service & great product
I have a bearded dragon and was getting tired of running to the store every couple of days to get crickets. I thought I would give online ordering a try. What a great product and service! The crickets come in a plain cardboard shipping box with egg crates and food (carrots) and were happy as could be. I opened the box and transferred them to a plastic container with air holes and threw some food in there (apples/carrots/cricket food) and they lasted for 2 weeks and would have lasted longer if I had not inadvertently left them in the sun. A great alternative to running to the store every couple of days! Will definitely be ordering again. ... show more

    • More ants than crickets
Be warned: these crickets are massive! Product arrived >24hrs after shipping but that is probably because of where I live (almost boondocks). There were thousands of tiny red ants in the box. I know they weren't local because I've never seen anything like them. They were in breeding mode, too, with wings and all. As soon as I opened the box, hundreds of ants flooded out. I spent about an hour transferring ONLY crickets from one rubbermade tub to another (the ants crawled up whereas the crickets could not so I had to scoop the crickets out of the bottom once they left). Problem was about 75 crickets or so were dead, and the ants seemed quite interested in them in addition to flying around and crawling all over my hands. It's not really a big deal now, and losing 75 crickets out of 1k is hardly something to complain about, but it sure as hell creeped me out. I hate ants. So much. TL;DR: It's a box of big crickets. Mine was infested with ants. It's summer. 3 stars because ants are evil. ... show more

    • Tiny crickets being sold as large 1 inchers!
These were sold as adult 1 inch crickets. There was one cricket in the entire order that was close to 1 inch. Most were small, maybe 1/2 inch and a good bit were even smaller. I spent the better part of an hour sorting and smashing the ants that came in the box. The egg crates that were included looked like they were used for months. There were what appeared to be about 10 spider egg sacks attached in the bottom of some cups. I was so freaked out that I didn't get pictures, I just smashed and rolled them into little balls. I have ordered from Bassett's in the past with no issues but, this time it was atrocious. I don't know if I will be ordering from them again. ... show more

I ordered the crickets monday they came in thursday... not bad at all... also these crickets are huge..... these are great for larger beardies/lizard.. I never knew how much 1000 crickets really were.. make a plan if you are going to transfer the crickets from the box they come in onto a tank because when I first opened the box on my kitchen table a clowd of crickets jumped out everywhere!!!!!.. I emptied the box in a large trashbag then cut a small hole in the bottom corner of the trash bag and poured all the crickets into the tank I keep my crickets in. I couldent actually count how many I got that were still alive but its a shit load more and a way better price than the pet store. great buy overall ... show more

    • almost perfect
this is my first time to write a review. i am lazy. but this time i have to say something. i don't know why in the other reviews, they always said more than half dead and packaging was bad ,etc. but mine is packaged very well and when i open the box, only less than 5 out of 1000 dead, amazing job! the only reason why i said it is "almost' perfect is because the crickets are not those normal in wild, they had been improved better for feeding. it is not their fault, it is just not my personal prefer. i like wild ones because i can watch they fight! anyway, it is perfect. if not too many die in the following days, i will definitely buy more again. ... show more
