TL;DR: This is hands down the best ball Ice maker I have ever used. I have used multiple tray style ice makers which are difficult to fill and once frozen, they are deformed and foggy. This ice maker is extremely easy to use both on filling and taking out the ice when done. If you like larger clear Ice balls for your evening cocktail, this is a must have! Pro’s: ~Super easy to fill ~Super easy to take ice out ~Very clear and near perfect shape Con’s: ~Large container to fit in the freezer ~Only makes 2 ice balls and takes 24 hours to make. My Story: I have used several different ice makers from refrigerators to counter top portable ice makers and when it comes to cocktails, these kinds of ice melt too fast watering down the beverage and frankly don’t look good. I have tried 4 different large ice trays before this Bartesian Ice maker and I can say hands down this is the best one I’ve ever used. The other ice makers Ive used are in tray form. One kind I have is a square silicone trays that you have to fill in the sink and carefully carry over to the freezer. Lowering it into the freezer is another challenge all together. If you have a sliding shelf freezer, now you have to worry about spilling every time you open or close the freezer. Another one I have is a plastic two piece trays where you clip the top on the bottom and fill the 6 ice balls through tiny holes in the top and again, carefully walk it to the freezer. When they are done, there are usually large craters in the top and the ice is not clear at all. The Bartesian ice maker is unlike any other. You simply fill the large base unit with water up to the fill mark (which is a vertical line from the top to about 2” down) and lower the rubber piece slowly in until its flush on top. After that you can walk it over to the freezer with no worry of spilling and about 24 hours later, you have two perfect ball shaped ice cubes. Just tug the rubber handles a bit until it loosens and separate the two rubber pieces. I used Reverse Osmosis water and the balls were perfectly clear. The one negative is that the unit is quite large and you only get 2 ice balls every 24 hours. If you are hosting a party, you will need to find a place to store the ice balls and start making them several days in advance. Overall, if you want a nice clear ice ball for your cocktails, get this Bartesian ice maker and you will not be disappointed.

I love my bourbon and I love good ice with it! I have put off buying one of these types of ice makers over the years for the sheer price, I was a fool to NOT buy sooner! When I first got it I opened it up and figured out how it all works. Yes the directions are not the greatest but that is what YouTube is for! I wanted to just see what the first round of ice would make without using boiled water or anything like that, just fill and let it freeze. The instructions do spell out how long toner them freeze for and that part I did follow exactly. I froze them for 33 hours. Not on the short and not on the longer end. The pictures speak for themselves! 2nd to last picture is the sphere after 30mins of sipping and outside. It is NOT cracking only the lines in between sips and temp difference. About the only negative you are going to br able to find with these spheres is the access holes top and bottom that leave a little nub or nipple, get a knife and shave it off IF it bothers you that much! Last picture is in an old school freezer where it’s on top and fridge is below. Just in the corner all by itself. As you can see in the picture I still have room in it for more food OR two of these darlings! If you are still reading this review and have not put it in your cart or bought it, please reread! It is SO well worth it! I wish I would have bought years ago! Pros: deliveres almost perfect sphere’s! See nub 😔 CLEAR spheres first time with just tap water! Solid design and feel! Rubber inserts feel like they will last over time and NO FILM on ice or in drink! Takes up little space in freezer! Cons: little nub if you are that person or really picky!
