As long as you read the product description and you know your dog this product works great. A lot of the bad reviews were from people who clearly didn’t read the breeds of dog this was for. The product description clearly tell you the type of dog it’s meant for and if you decide to get it for a type of dog not listed that’s your fault not the manufacturer. Also, if your dog knows how to rip and escape stuff this item isn’t for you. My dog is very laid back and will not rip things apart so I knew this product would be fine. If you’re hesitant because of the bad reviews like I stated if you read the product description and understand your pet then you shouldn’t have any issues. The vast majority of the bad reviews are associated to the issues above. The product itself was very easy to blow up. My dog was very comfortable and it’s very easy to adjust. I would definitely say it was worth the money.

Bought this for my little dog. He had a growth on his tail he wouldn't leave alone. This donut didn't work as well as we had hoped as he's longer in body an could still reach his tail to chew on it. The hood part was too short, again because of his longer body. When he wore this it stayed secure especially when he rubbed it on the floor and scratched at it. If you have longer bodied dogs, like Dachshunds, Cesky Terriers, and such, this probably will not work for you. But it is a great product.

Fatal flaw in this dog cone with donut

This promised to be the perfect solution for my dog to prevent reaching a hot spot on her tail. And still provide enough open space around her ears to prevent heat and moisture to develop in her ears and thus cause yeast growth in her heavily furred ears. The flaw is the open space between the plastic outer shield. My dog quickly was able to work that around to where her mouth is located and then push her muzzle through the opening to reach her hot spot. We only had it on her for less than 2 hours before this episode that re-opened her hot spot to a bloody mess. Fortunately, I had ordered a back up - it's shown as an Orange inflatable donut with a plastic shield on Amazon. But it closes up completely with the aid of a very secure velcro strap. Get the Orange donut cone!!!

Comfortable but design makes no sense

My dog was comfortable in it, and would even fall asleep with his head resting on it, which I liked. However, the design is really flawed because there is a gap where the plastic cone part doesn't connect, which a pet can easily use to access and like/scratch a wound.

The only problem was with our Doberman. He figured out how to get it off and then popped the blow-up collar. That's on us, not the product. Update; I contacted the company and asked if they could sell me just the inflatable portion... they said they didn't have that available, but would replace the entire collar! I then explained that the problem wasn't on the design, but on our Doberman's capabilities of getting collars off! The went ahead and did an entire replacement of the collar, no charge! I was amazed at the customer service, even after they knew it wasn't their issue to solve. I give this company more than 5 stars for such good customer service.

Works well, until zipper fails

I have a ~120lb American Bulldog who's begun having an issue with hotspots. I have purchased this cone twice - both times, it has initially worked well to keep her off of her spots, and so long as you make sure that it stays well-inflated, with the gap in the plastic shield facing behind her head, it has proven impossible for her to get off or get through. The point of failure in both collars has been the zipper. The first cone was bought on June 19th, and lasted until around Aug 5th before the zipper slider broke - it would not hold the zipper together, and when I attempted to tighten the slider, the entire slider broke off. The new cone was purchased on August 10th, and this time, it has lasted 5 days before the zipper began separating. When the zipper is working, the cone is well worth the price. After the zipper breaks, however, it is functionally useless, and given the second cone's zipper didn't even last a week (vs the first lasting almost two months!), I can't recommend the product.

Works great

I bought 3 other products locally that all had problems. I found this and received it the next day. It seems more comfortable on my pooch especially when I leave it slightly deflated. I didn’t even need the plastic zip on part.
