The pads are easy to put together and are soft. I am using them outside as a cushion under a pool. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the giant gash on the side of the box, ruining one of the pads, that was present upon arrival. I purchased the half inch tiles for a home gym application. the foam thickness was as advertised, and density is perfect. It is firm while providing enough cushion to prevent injury. The tiles have both a smooth and a textured side, for whatever suits your needs best. Even on the textured side they can still get slippery when wet. As far as assembly, what I found worked best was to assemble first upside down, use tape to secure the tiles together, then flip over. If you are going to be doing a lot of jumping or gymnastics type activity you should use a double sided carpet tape that will also fasten to the floor and prevent sliding. It might damage the finish of your floor though, so check before you do this. you can lock the pieces together without any tape, but they will come apart if you are doing anything more active than walking around. It's just foam after all. With the tape I have found them to be very stable. ... show more

Perfect for home gym. Ours is installed on concrete in our garage. Comes with plenty of edge pieces so you can border the tiles nicely in any room. Also cuts easily if you need smaller pieces. We have several pieces of equipment sitting on here and it works great. It DOES leave indentation with heavy weights or equipment. Otherwise, very durable and great quality. If you try to scoot/drag something across it, it does tear the top. Not a fault of the mats, just make sure you pick things up to move them. Great for doing HIIT workouts, yoga, push-ups, stretches, etc. thick enough that you don’t feel the hard floor underneath. It is easy to sweep off and then you can use a Swiffer or hand mop to really clean. Since ours is in the garage, I just take the leaf blower out there to avoid sweeping around equipment. Bought these for use in our tent to add padding for sleeping and to protect the floor from the dog's claws. It worked great. We will need to trim some pieces to get a perfect fit and we also ordered a carry/storage case to keep them from getting deformed between camping trips. The kids loved playing with them to make forts, but the 1/2" thick tiles don't work well for this. ... show more

These foam tiles are very easy to assemble. I have purchased several packages of them over the years to cover our basement floor. They have served as a safe play area for our children on a concrete floor and also serve as a great insulator. In some areas we have since placed a carpet remnant over the foam tiles. A quality product with great value! The foam tiles can also be cut with a utility knife to fit around obstacles as needed and may still be interlocked with adjacent tiles if oriented with floor planning. My spouse has worked out on the bare tiles and also the carpet remnant covered tiles with no issues. Some of the tiles we had previously installed are about (12) years old and have not lost their integrity even in higher traffic areas leading to our laundry area and of course the workout area.
