Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Rain or shine, the MX4 provides confident cargo storage that’s complete with dual drain tubes to divert water away from the truck bed, as well as full perimeter seals to help protect against water intrusion. Finally, the MX4 can hold up to 400lbs of evenly distributed weight and is backed by a 5-year, hassle-free warranty. BAKFlip MX4 is proudly made in the USA with globally sourced materials with a US-based support team. .

  • So far, so good
Just installed the BakFlip G2 cover on my 2010 Nissan Frontier. The installation was fairly straightforward. It took me about 40 minutes, and only required a 15mm socket and ratchet to tighten the clamps. No other tools were needed. The installation instructions are basically a pamphlet with tiny pictures. They could be a lot better. The first step says "Attach the rails to your truck using the provided clamps." Having never installed one, I had to figure out which direction the rails go, where the clamps should be placed, etc. by trial and error. Probably installing another one of these would take me 15 minutes or less to do. For anyone interested, the end of the rail with the silver bracket needs to be near the cabin of the truck. If you have a Nissan Frontier with the Utili-track system, the clamps will fit between the track and the top of the bed if you sneak them in at the end of the rail and slide them down to the correct position. Once the rails are installed, you won't be able to slide your bed extender past the clamps, so it's pretty much stuck where it is. This isn't too bad, since you can still use the bed extender in the position where it fits on the tailgate, but you will need to remove it to use the cover. The cover comes with 2 hoses that should be used to take water from two drainage points to some sort of outlet on your truck. The Frontier has 2 rubber plugs that you would need to remove or modify to get the water to drain out. Right now I'm just letting the water into the truck bed. The cover seems pretty solid. The panels have a metal skin over a styrofoam core. Each panel can be unlatched by pulling a cable to release the latch, and then it can be folded up. The instructions recommend holding it in place using the attached D-ring clips and 2 bungee cords (not included). If you fold it all the way up, there are 2 struts that attach to it to hold it up against your truck cabin. They included some rubber strips with adhesive backing that I used as a bumper to keep the folded up cover from smacking into my rear window. Once installed, it fits well and looks nice. I didn't hear any whistling or anything on the highway, up to speeds of about 80 mph. There is a warning label that says to always close the tailgate before latching the last panel into place to prevent damage. Unfortunately, you can't see this label if you just open the tailgate and try to re-close it. I would warn anyone you let borrow your truck about that. I'll update this if anything changes, or if my gas mileage improves or anything exciting like that. ... show more

  • Outstanding product, wish I bought the day I got the truck
Best aftermarket accessory I have ever purchased. I hate how much this thing cost but it was well worth it. Installation was extremely easy, I now have secure bed storage, it looks awesome, keeps my stuff dry (for the most part), and I have seen a slight increase in fuel economy (1 mpg?). I did not want to route the drain tubes down to those plastic knockouts at the front of the bed because I knew they would waste space and get damaged when I carry cargo up there. I drilled appropriate size holes in the corners of the bed, painted the bare metal, and installed rubber grommets for the drain tubes to pass through. Pictures attached. In a real downpour quite a bit of water gets past the seals and in around the edges of the tailgate but i think you just have to remember -- it is still a truck bed, not a car trunk. Other attached pictures show what it looked like inside after a flash flood warning rainfall. Totally satisfied with the purchase, only wish I had bought it sooner. ... show more

  • This is a great product
Style: BAKFlip G2 Size: 4' 11" Bed
Like the title says this is a great product. Well worth the investment. My neighbors have been commenting on how great the truck looks with it on. Two small issues, one the direction are a little lacking, but I watched a 10 minute YouTube clip, which was far better than any instruction could have been and made me feel super confident while installing the product. Other small issue and this will stop it from getting 5 stars, I am missing 2 screws that hole the clip that is used to retain the clip bracket when the bed is in the folded up position, a quick trip to lowes or home depot will fix this, but is something I should not have to deal with at this price. Still a great product and would buy again and recommend to neighbors, the missing screws are just an annoyance ... show more

Was an easy install. After 4 years still looks good, seals up good, and no issues.

  • The item itself is fantastic. Very solid and works great "so far"
Style: BAKFlip G2 Size: 6' 1" Bed
The item itself is fantastic. Very solid and works great "so far". I have no idea how it will last over time and in various situations, because I have only just installed it. I had some issues with UPS destroying my package and damaging my delivery and losing parts, so I had to return the one I bought on amazon. But I picked up the same one at a different location, and it is great. I was able to install it my self, having never installed a bed cover before. However, I would recommend some help. It would be so much smoother with two people. ... show more

  • Really great product - just what I needed
This fits a Nissan Frontier perfectly. It was easy to install and can be used with the rails and the bed extender that come with the Frontier. Of course you can't extend the bed and have it covered but the extender mechanism fits under the cover and can be used to separate sections of the bed. It easily folds back up to allow full use of the bed for hauling appliances, trash, brush or whatever without removing it completely. The only complaint I have is that it does allow water to drip into the bed during a very hard rain. So storing paper unwrapped by some plastic may result in some damage if there are storms. Overall it is an excellent solution. ... show more

  • BakFlip G2 Cover is Right wrong Rails
The cover I got is the exact right size. The rails are about 6 inches too long. I have had 3 BakFlips on different trucks and never had this happen before. I know the covers are excellent and hold up a long time. However, I am now on my way to Home Depot to buy a metal blade in order to cut these rails down to the right size, and some paint to redo the ends so they do not rust .... I just do not feel like going through the hassle of returning and I do have a little bit of know how.... still sucks. ... show more

  • Muy bonita, pero muy frágil.
Style: Revolver X4s Size: 4' 11" Bed
Cuando la vi se miraba hermosa, pero venía dañada de las esquinas. Y esto pasa nueva qué pasará cuando esta en uso continuo. Creo que la deben hacer más resistente, al fin es para eso protecion, y el precio amerita estas cuestiones.
