Cover is well built and very easy to install in a 2016 Tacoma. Fits perfectly and looks very finished in use. Of course, it is not 100% waterproof, but should do the job very well unless you have something extremely sensitive to water on the floor of the truck bed, i.e. cardboard boxes that might soak up any of the small puddles that eventually get into the truck bed. A bed mat and/or plastic containers should mitigate most of the risk. I am disappointed in the security of the latch design. Of course, no bed cover can resist a determined thief with a prybar or other tools. But a crook with a little initiative could easily design a way to reach in and unlatch the wire pull openers with very little effort. There are workarounds on the internet to make the cover and latches more secure, but due to the lightweight materials, and compact design for folding, those options are somewhat limited. Other fixes are more secure, but interfere with the convenience of using the cover. None of these concerns are a dealbreaker. I am very happy with the cover and I'm sure I'll get many years of use from it. ... show more

I gave this product 5 stars notwithstanding the effort to install it, which is a one-time event. In summary, the cover is durable, highly functional, secure, and looks great on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. There are a lot of options in truck bed covers. I chose this one because I wanted one that would withstand over time the effects of wind and weather elements when traveling Texas freeways. It is at the high end of the price range for truck bed covers; as it is in terms of quality of product. Back to the installation. Again, I own a Toyota Tacoma. Little did I know that I would have to remove and later re-install the original bed rails in order to install the rails that support the BakFlip cover. Not really that big of a deal; just added about 45 minutes to an hour to the installation process, which included having to go to Home Depot to pick up the right wrench. Fortunately, BakFlip has installation videos for different truck models. Be sure to check out the installation video for your truck model -- they do vary. Other than the installation process, I am highly pleased with this product. If you can afford the price, I would highly recommend it. This is a solid, high quality cover. Installation takes a while and the instructions have room for improvement. But it fits my Toyota Tacoma perfectly and looks great. I see a lot of trucks with this brand of cover, so a lot of us are choosing it. I’m very happy with it.

I've been fighting this for a day and it still won't install properly. 1) The rails that mount to the truck sides are horrible - and the clamps are worse. You just can't get them to align properly, terrible engineering. 2) The "slam clamps" that sort of lock it closed don't have sufficient alignment room, so they won't latch at all unless you completely disassemble the base bracket and shim it up (a few layers of cut out aluminum can seem to work.) 3) The on-line instructions promised that I wouldn't have to drill into my car other than a plastic drain cap, but the instructions say to drill into the wheel well from the bed for the drain hoses....which I am not going to do. Overall I think they have a decent product, but have taken real engineering shabby shortcuts in the various fittings to make it fit your car. It might work fine for you. (I'm fitting to a 2019 Toyota Tacoma short-bed.) Edited 2 days later. Extensive web searching shows this is common. Inspection shows that the metal parts are engineered well, but the quality control is terrible. The culprit in this case is the waterproofing / weatherstripping applied to the adaptor rails....it was twisted, stuck to both top and side, and was clearly obstructing with proper assembly. Like others, I simply stripped this stuff off, then assembly went smooth and everything fits up and latches nicely. I will just have to run a bead of RTV along the gap to give some sort of waterproofing. Shame on these guys. ... show more

I ordered this cover for my Tacoma in the evening and two mornings later it arrived in fine condition. Very well boxed. I did the installation alone in well under 3 hours with few headaches. The directions could be clearer but they are fairly manageable. The cover fits exactly and looks nice. The latches all worked without adjusting them and the tailgate closes fine. It looks like it will be pretty water repellent, but time/weather may show different. I like the quality and it really looks nice on my Tacoma. ... show more

Purchased this a year ago for my 22 Tacoma, it had held up great and there have only been some minor inconvenieces. It’s not completely water tight to the bed, but items don’t get soaked. The clips to hold the cover in the 3/4 position are not very strong, but have not had the cover flipped close while driving at highway speed. The 5-star is for their customer service. This past week, again a year after purchase, I noticed two small pieces had broken. I called customer service to purchase new ones and they are sending them free of charge.
