So the product itself can only be used for basic diagnosis. They recommend you use the torque app which I also recommend. The only problem is that on top of buying the scanner, the torque app is another $6. Here is my pros and cons list: Pros- Cheap Works with a wide range of vehicles Can be used to clear certain codes Cons- Some codes are hidden, the scanner can't see them The torque app costs an additional $6 Some of the free apps don't work Overall rating: 4/5.     • The Best Way to Diagnose Issues with Your Vehicle

I had issues diagnosing my old 2004 Dodge Stratus when it stopped turning over, and instead of having it towed to a mechanic, I decided to try this device out to see if it would find the problem. It did, and I couldn't be any happier. To start, this device works great but it must be paired with an OBD app so you can see all your vehicle's stats as well as get the error codes from the device. I'd recommend Torque Pro as it has several useful features and it pairs nicely with the device. It costs a few extra bucks, but it's a lifetime purchase and not a monthly subscription. Additionally, the cost of the software along with this reader is still a lot less than how much a mechanic would charge to give you the same information. The device itself works in a matter of seconds. Simply plug it in to your vehicle's OBD port, and as long as your battery has juice it will light up and be ready to pair. After pairing simply open the app you choose, go to the diagnose page and hit begin. After a few seconds it will give you a list of any error codes your vehicle may currently have and from there you can tap on each error code to read a more detailed description about your errors. On my vehicle I was having a couple errors. The first was that I was having issues with my fuses (turned out to be the starter relay specifically) and I had another letting me know that my engine was having a cylinder misfire. While the misfiring cylinder hasn't caused me any issues aside from a long ignition turnover time, the starter relay replacement was all I needed to get my car up and running again in just a couple minutes. The relay itself also only cost me a few bucks. Altogether I was able to diagnose and fix the starting issue with my car for a tiny fraction of what an auto shop bill would've been. Overall, if you want to stay up to date on any issues your vehicle may have as well as monitoring your emissions, battery levels, oil pressure, and more, then I would highly recommend this device. I have a aftermarket Android head unit (Eonon/MTCD). Out-of-the-box I could get the adapter to pair no problem [but not prompt for a PIN], but using Torque, no ECU connection. It worked just fine with my phone [which prompts for the PIN when you pair it], so I know the adapter is good. I did a little research, and found that the PIN number displayed in the bluetooth app on the android head unit isn't for connecting to the head unit, it's transmitted to things like the OBD adapter during pairing... The default was 0000, and this OBD adapter needed 1234. I changed the PIN on the head unit's bluetooth screen to 1234, and that allowed it to connect: Torque connected right up no problem. I replaced a unit that I gave to a friend, and I think the reason it worked was that it's pairing code was actually 0000, so I never considered the PIN option on the head unit... It works great, and reads data without errors or having to set the 'slow' option in the adapter settings in Torque... ... show more

Pairing the BT withd a new device is NOT as easy to set-up as one might assume.....especially if you're one of them "short tempered, non-techy" husband's some of us ladies are married to. Jussayin. But hey, I got it for him....once the coast was clear!

I feel the product worked correctly on truck and car , but could not get it to work on a motorcycle and the reason I purchased it , I think for most customers , this is a fair and good product , but had to spend 2x as much to find a scanner to work on a Triumph Motorcycle .... would still recommend to buy . ... show more
