  • Worked as advertised, straightforward installation
I installed it on my 2010 Trek 700 so that I can have assistance on a bike with ergonomics I already know I like. Now I have tons of power to get assistance whether it's going up a gentle grade, against wind or up a steep long hill, or accelerating from a stop. Play around with the gear you use relative to the assist level to get smooth rather than intermittent assistance. I still have not figured out how the bike speed and cadence alter motor output but am getting smoother output after couple of weeks of almost daily use. It's a different feel than the previous Bosch pedal-assist bottom bracket motor that was on my cargo bike I sold--in part related to the throttle feature which leads to a brief assist on the chainwheel even after a I stop pedaling. I recommend watching a couple of different online videos to get helpful tips on installation, which went smoothly. I got the 48V750W68MM motor kit, 42T sprocket (mostly just to match what I already had on the bike), 500C display, brake levers/sensors for my old-style V-brakes, and the downtube shark battery 48V13AH. I installed the headlight that came with it too. I was hoping by getting the cheaper battery it would be smaller because I do not need a lot of storage for long distances but it's still big. To make the battery fit, I had to put it on the water bottle bolts on the downtube in the opposite orientation. The speed sensor and magnet for the rear wheel also required some time to figure out an orientation where the magnet on the spoke would not hit the sensor on the frame--must have been something about my frame. I highly recommend this kit. Everything appears to be high quality and hopefully will last a long time. ... show more

  • Just do it!
Love it! I converted both my wife’s and my own GT mountain bikes with Befang 750W kits about a year and a half ago. I’m on the bigger side so I opted for a larger battery. They run great! Man, do they fly! On trails, you don’t need to hit level 5 to satisfy your “need for speed”. Level 3 should prove exhilarating enough. Don’t believe the hype about ease of installation. If you’re not handy, consider hiring someone who is to perform this conversion for you. This is coming from someone who handles almost all my my family’s home & car maintenance/repairs. ... show more

  • Fantastic Customer Service, Great Product
Updating my review: Initially it didnt work and I thought I had the wrong wire harness or the motor didnt work. Turns out I had installed the brake sensors wrong and that was preventing the motor from working. Greenergia's customer support was phenomenal and walked me through every step of the way to get it fixed. I've attached a picture of how the brake sensors are supposed to be installed. ... show more

  • Quiet linear power. BBS02 750W
I received the Canbus bbs02 750 watt model. Installation was was straight forward but because I purchased the rear rack battery it required some modefication to fit my bike but I had the tools and was able the make it work. I was truly amased with the power of this model. One thing I dont like is the thumb throttle hesitates once you get going and let off the throttle then it hesitates when the throttle is pressed again. Makes the bike unpredictable as you slow down for a corner then wait for the throttle to engage, its a bit scary when it comes on at the wrong time. It seems the throttle is all or nothing. I keep Pedal assist at level 1 as the higher levels are unpredictable. If the speedometer is correct It reached 29mph on pas level 5. The motor is very quiet which I like. The power is great, more power than I need actually. I have purchased a new Twist throttle in hopes the new throttle will be more responsive. Overall I am happy with the quiet linear power when it engages. The installation was not difficult. Im glad I bought it and will enjoy my bike more now. ... show more

  • Awesome improvement for an old bike (and old man)- 500W is plenty powerful
I put this on an old mountain bike I've had for a long time, and love it. I took it on some rough trails, steep and rocky, and it kept me going where I could never have without it. I got the 500W motor since it is lighter and requires a lighter battery and uses less power. On the display, it shows it outputs over 700W at times, and has plenty of power. Installation was not bad, the hardest thing was removing the existing bottom bracket. On first ride, it made a lot of squeaking when under stress, so I had to really wail on it to tighten up the bottom, and after that it was okay, still makes a little noise sometimes at low rpm under stress, but quiets down if I downshift to increase rpms. Great improvement for an old bike, would recommend to anyone!! ... show more

  • If you're on the fence, just get it.
I've been on the fence on getting one of these kits to convert my bike for a while to make commuting easier. I finally bit the bullet and did it, and holy cow does it exceed my expectations. I got the BBS02, 48v, 750W kit to have it be in compliance with laws in my area for what constitutes an E-Bike. Let me tell you this thing ROCKS. The biggest issue I had with commuting was always this one particular hill that's just massively steep. Like 18% gradient steep. I could never make it up it, and always ended up pushing myself too hard, getting off to walk up it and being exhausted. I was worried whether an ebike motor would be enough for this hill, especially since I am a bigger person (~270lbs). I'll still be giving it some effort just to make it up a little quicker, but this motor will pull me up that hill in 4th gear on my bike at ~12-14 mph. It's so great to not only not be exhausted at the top, but also get up it fast enough that I'm not even struggling to maintain balance. The only downside here is there are a lot of cables. You'll want to go ahead and buy some cable wrap and zip ties to make everything clean. I used the mesh looking cable sleeve type. If you take your time and plan a little bit ahead, you can have an installation that looks really good, and the only giveaway at first glance that it's electric is the battery. I also got the shift sensor that cuts power during a shift, but opted against installing it. I just use the brake levers as a pseudo clutch to cut the power when I shift, and I honestly don't shift that much anymore as my 4th gear ratio is just about perfect for not being too hard for the motor to start from a standstill and having good traveling speeds on most of my commute. Installation was simple enough. I can't remember if I followed their directions directly or followed along with a youtube video, but it's pretty straightforward. There are tons of youtube videos out there covering this exact installation. I still ended up having to go to a bike shop for help, the original bottom bracket on my bike was on tight and I could not get it to budge with the tools I had. Once they got that off I was able to finish everything up without any further setbacks. ... show more
