I like this brand and the formula is definitely one of the better smelling citronella mixes out there (IMO, it’s hard to make that high of a concentration of citronella smell ok, but they did) but the little plastic piece that makes the spray “spray” falls out of the bottle. On both. It’s tiny, so you lose it. And then it doesn’t spray out in a fine mist, but in big globs. It’s not the worst thing ever but it’s pretty inconvenient because then you have to rub it in, then wash your hands (it’s too oily to leave on your palms unless that kind of thing doesn’t bother you…)

My kid could be the ultimate tester for bug sprays. She could step in and out of the door and have gotten a mosquito bite that will swell to the circumference of a baseball. I've never even seen what oak mite bites look like before she got them. And as any parent concerned with the long term health of their children, I've tried a bunch of non DEET sprays. This one has worked amazingly. Recently, this spray was put to the ultimate test. My daughter started school this month and at her school they have 10 acres and a creek they visit frequently. Additionally, my daughter's class opens out to a lawn that is right next to a less full portion of the creek. I remember seeing it and thinking oh no, standing water. So I dropped the ball on the first day of school and did not explicitly tell the staff that she absolutely has to have bug spray on before going outside. The practice is to pass the class bug spray around to the kids and if they don't want to put it on, they don't have to. Well, I guess she didn't put any on or the class spray was not going to cut it because she came home and had no fewer than 30 bites along her stomach, groin area, legs, arm pits, head. Everywhere. I put the Badger after balm on. At 130am, she woke me up asking me to reapply the after balm. It wasn't cutting it. She couldn't get back to sleep and I didn't have any allergy meds in the house. So I gave her the option to try to get some sleep or go to the store for medicine. She chose medicine. So from 130am-430am, her and I were up trying to make her bug bites manageable enough for her to sleep. The next day, I explained to the school in detail that it's not optional for her to use bug spray (and I think she learned her lesson here too) and I showed them her Badger spray in her book bag so that they could make sure she used it. That was 4 days ago and she hasn't had a mosquito bite since.

I borrowed some on a large group hike. Three of us used it and I watched everyone else get swarmed and bitten by mosquitoes while we 3 got no bites! Zero! And even better, I don't need to hurry to wash it off afterward because the ingredients aren't harmful.(Happy dance!). Bought it for my 87 year old mother who was getting mosquitoes bites when she spent 5 minutes in the yard. She learned quickly that she needed to put it on her legs AND arms and neck- pretty much everywhere skin was showing. Only draw back was after I ordered a 2 pack for myself, one of my bottles kept losing its tiny white nozzle. Every time we sprayed, it just popped out. We would carefully click it back in place, but it keeps popping out. Not sure if it's just defective? Because the one I borrowed didn't seem to have this issue. Nor does my mother's have this issue. I still plan to keep using it even after we eventually loose the tiny nozzle. It just is a bit drippy compared to when it's working properly.

We used this last week on a fishing trip to the Northwest Territories in Canada. They have black flies and mosquitoes. We wanted to try a new product that contains DEET without using the recommended ones at the Lodge. This is a pump spray bottle, and we selected the smaller size for carry-on. This brand, with excellent ingredients, kept the bugs away.

This bug spray is great! Used it when we traveled out of the county where there is a risk for ZIKA virus! The mosquitos did not bother us even when we stayed in the middle of the jungle! Will purchase again!
