He worked hard, and so did his hands. They would often split and crack in the frigid New England winters. One night, seeking a soothing solution, he mixed up some beeswax and olive oil to create a simple herbal balm. It helped his hands so much, he decided to share it with everyone he knew - and the rest, as they say, is Badger history. The insect repelling essential oils are fine, however the balm base of organic olive oil and beeswax might stain certain fabrics. Does this work for gnats, ticks, fleas, and no see ums? This product is formulated to be generally repellent to a wide variety of biting insects but is only tested on mosquitoes and stable flies so our efficacy claims are limited to those. Does it contain DEET or any other chemical insect repellants? No. Badger Bug repellents do not contain: DEET, boric acid, skin so soft, permethrin, wondercide, neem, or picaridin. They repels bugs with organic essentials oils, nature's original bug repellents. Do all-natural bug sprays really work? Yes. All Badger bug repellents have been independently tested and approved to be effective for at least 3 hours. All bug repellents must pass testing before they can be sold in the USA. Testing by ICR, Inc. in March, 2010. What does it smell and feel like? It smells like citronella, lemongrass, geranium and other essential oils. It feels like an intensive moisturizing balm (the inactive ingredients are organic extra virgin olive oil and beeswax).

First off - just because bugs are buzzing around your head does not mean they are biting you. They are just attracted to your thermal image. This stick does not keep the bugs from hanging around your face. But it does keep them from biting you. I used this stick and came away with only two black fly bites after four hours outside birdwatching with a group in relatively buggy environments. No mosquitoes bit me at all. I do suggest reapplying at intervals if you are sweating. The smell is strong but not overwhelming. Can be applied directly to skin if you do not have allergies to any of the ingredients. To the best of my observation the cream does repel mosquitoes. BUT I swear every time I put some bees find me. They are looking for flowers and are not aggressive but there are bees. So I probably wouldn't buy this item if bees freak you out. It does smell lovely.

I have a blood type that attracts mosquitoes or flies to me. I have been looking for something organic that will repel or keep them off me. When I found this product I was very happy but it failed to meet my needs. First off with the positives, in my opinion it smells good so I had no problem rubbing it on my skin, unfortunately though bees and other insects enjoy the smell as well. So unless you like bees and other flowering insects chasing you I don’t think its that effective. Even more so, I watched a huge mosquito literally fly into my personal space and try and bite me before I swatted it away (but you only can do so much if you don’t kill it) and it found a place on my arm when I was not paying attention and still got me minutes after applying a huge swath all over my arms and neck… ... show more
