  • Forcefield Activated ! haha wow I can't believe how well this works.
My best memory and the ultimate test. It was on a very hot buggy day. I had to stand in one place for over an hour and cut the branches down and load the branches and debris into my truck. The last time I worked in this area I got ate alive and even took some of the bloodsucking critters home with me so that they could finish their meal and have seconds and thirds on my dime. I had to exterminate to get rid of them. They got in my boots too. I am not from this area so I had no idea what the heck and how the heck and why it was so bad.. needless to say I had a lot of anxiety to go back and gather up this pile. Someone dumped their junk in my yard again. I hope they stop doing that. Anyway. I took a shower and while still damp I put a thin layer of this lotion on me. Using the dampness to help smooth it all over my body. I even wore a dress. A airy wrap around. So my shoulders, arms, and legs were out. I had no bites and the critters didn't come home with me. The product seemed to have lasted for about 7 hours and I think that's because of the thin layer I used. Another experience: I put this stuff on before cutting my lawns. Usually, and before buying and using this product, I'm ate alive. It's very hot, humid, and buggy here and I tend to have my arms, chest, and legs out - everything is pretty much exposed when I do my yard work. As it is very hot and humid. I put this lotion on and I don't get bit. It seems to depend on how generous I am with layering the lotion, as to how long the product lasts. It's kinda expensive for me.. so I try to use a thin layer and take a shower first so my skin is damp enough to smooth the product over my body well enough to get a fair amount of coverage. I also use another spray to get my back and I also lightly spray my face with that other product. So between the two I'm good. But my legs are exposed and I don't have to spray them, I just use this lotion on most of my body. I don't really use it on my feet tho. I wear boots and lotion up my ankles with the product, and that works well enough to keep the bugs off my feet. But when I take my boots off - if I'm still outside in the buggy area, my feet and ankles (where I don't have product) will get bitten. This product is great and it really works. Thanks. ... show more

  • I love this DEET free insect repellent
A friend told me about this DEET free insect repellent and I liked it so much I bought 3 more bottles of lotion and one of the spray. The lotion has a pleasant fragrance, applies well with a nice texture, no sticky residue. It's impossible for me to go out and garden during the mosquito season in the Sierra foothills where we have a second home. So happy to find this so I don't feel like I have to shower repellent off when I come back inside. ... show more

  • Works Great! Much more pleasant than DEET
Have you ever melted plastic with DEET? I ruined a camera lens while doing astrophotography one night from the DEET in the bug spray I was using getting from my hands onto the lens and melting off the focal length numbers on the side of the barrel. The same goes for a watch that I was wearing when spraying on a DEET based bug spray. The stuff may work for keeping mosquitoes away, but at what price?! I now use Picaradin and am much, much happier. The stuff doesn't smell bad, still keeps mosquitoes away and I don't have to worry about it ruining whatever it touches. This stuff is THE answer to what to do about mosquitoes. ... show more

My son has an allergy to mosquito bites. We tried different repellents but he still got bit. A friend recommended this repellent and it works great! It’s the only repellent I get him! Keeps mosquitoes and no-see-ums away!

  • Defeated Hoards of Mosquitos
This stuff works like magic, it immediately put up a force field around my body after applying. I rarely write reviews but this product definitely deserves a stellar review. See below! I just came back from a three day / two night trip kayak camping along the Shenandoah River in Virginia. The first day we were planning on staying in the national forest along the river bank. This summer has been really wet which has kicked the mosquito production into high gear. We pull up to the first planned camping location to recon the site. About 10 seconds after pulling the boats up to the bank, we were attacked by mosquitos. I mean they were dive bombing us from every direction, and within a minute I had already been bitten about six times. We retreated back to the boats figuring the area was bad, and we moved onto plan B. What a terrible mistake that was. We pulled up to the second site praying that the mosquito population was smaller. Boy were we wrong. The second we docked we were swarmed with mosquitos. I mean hundreds of hungry mosquitos had zeroed in on dinner (we were probably the only humans within a couple miles of this site). It got so bad my camping buddy began inhaling mosquitos through his mouth and nose!!! Imagine the scene in the movie 300 where they "blocked out the sun with arrows". This was that scene but with mosquitos. You couldn't breath without risking ingesting some zika-carrying insect. After about three minutes on shore and another dozen bites (these suckers were biting us through out shirts!!!) we jumped back onto our kayaks. Now we are really in a bad spot because 1. We hadn't planned on a third site 2. It was getting near the end of the day, and 3. There were two class II rapids sections and 14 miles of river between us and our second night camping location. Even with all of the death inducing challenges on the river, we were on the verge of staying on the kayaks to avoid the mosquito zombie hoards on land. We decided to give it another shot, but before we pulled up on land again, we somehow dug into the bottom of one of my bags to find the Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellent Lotion. The instructions say to put a thin layer on, but we were going to war and there was no way I was getting back on land without a healthy lathering of this lotion. Once applied, we decided to give one last section of the national forest a shot. My friend pulled up in a rather fast section of the river to the only visible camping site on land. Once we docked we were once again swarmed with mosquitos, but this time we had the upper hand. The best way to how well this lotion worked is to use a scene from the movie Independence Day. Picture the scene where Will Smith and his fellow pilots were attacking the alien ship for the first time. They approached the ship and shot off a volley of missiles (Knight 1, Fox 3!) only to have them explode once they hit the alien ship's force field. The missiles were the mosquitos, we were the alien ship and the force field was the Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellent Lotion (except the mosquitos didn't explode). The mosquitos would zero in on us and come flying in for free chicken only to bounce off of our skin that was lathered up with the lotion. I kid you not, there were dozens of mosquitos flying at me trying to suck my blood only to immediately fly away once they landed on my lotion lathered skin. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. I have never experienced anything like this before. It was so amazing, I stopped everything I was doing so I could watch mosquitos try to land on my skin and then run away for dear life. We were finally able to land our kayaks and set up camp for the night. This stuff literally saved our lives since we didn't have to chance Class II rapids in the middle of the night. If I could give this stuff 100 stars I would. We still got a few bites on areas where our clothes rested directly against our skin (shoulders, hips, etc). Next time we go out on a trip like this, I am going to douse everything I am wearing in Sawyer's Permathin spray, and douse my skin in the Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellent Lotion for 100% protection. The Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellent lotion stayed in an easily accessible location for the rest of the trip. We didn't experience anything as bad as the first night but it still helped fight off mosquitos for the rest of the trip. Thank you Sawyer for making an incredible product that works! ... show more

  • Mosquitoes loved me until I bought this!!
Mosquitoes constantly eat me alive every summer. I went to Costa Rica and I did not get a single bite as long as I was wearing this. I also have sensory issues and hate the feel of big sprays that are oily or make me feel like I’m wearing it. I think it bothered me for 0.002 seconds and then I moved on and forgot about it. I will buy this again!! ... show more
