I love this pergola! It is exactly what I needed here in the PNW. Like other folks noted, it was not easy to assemble and it took us a few days and help of a few friends to get it done. As I expected, the legs are pretty much a square which allowed me to situate the pergola on a 9 by 9 patio and arrange it such that the longer roof direction worked to my favor and I didn't have to place any of the legs in the garden, they are all on the concrete patio. The only issue we had were the gutter instructions they indicate to place the in as far as possible, which we did. However, the first rain proved that this is a mistake as the wood on the ends does get wet. It would have been dry and had better drainage if we had slid them out a little so the edge overhangs a bit more. I will probably invest in a clear waterbased wood seal to protect the wood, which is also fairly soft so if you are going to assemble on concrete like I did, put down the cardboard from the box on your work area. Also, it says to peal off the blue protector plastic from the roof but this just would not come off so I have a blue roof for now and I am fine with that... Maybe it will bubble eventually but I have only just finished setting it up. Lastly, I don't want the shelves or side rails but I couldn't find a way to order it without them so I just have them in a pile in my garage. 😉 In summary, a great quality product, the cedar smell is awesome, all of the pieces needed were there with extras! I would definitely buy this again and recommend it to anyone looking for something more sturdy than an umbrella. ... show more

This was an excellent made product. It was easy to assemble and took me about 10 hours. I'd recommend having a set of hands for some of the installation. I am very pleased with Backyard Discovery that we will be purchasing another gazebo to go over the hot tub.

This was an extremely easy install, just be patient and take your time. I used both the Bilt app and the paper instructions. Basically, we will use it for a full bar underneath. The roof edges are NOT drip edges. It is easier to assemble only the roof frames and place on roof, then install the panels. It is way heavier to place on roof if you do it according to the manual. It is very sturdy and looks great but this is treated Chinese "White Cedar" (Species: Cunninghamia lanceolata) and not traditional Red Cedar. It's basically a species of Fir. ... show more

Very disappointed! Husband hurt shoulder so we hired a professional contractor to build for us. There were parts missing, they actually had to go buy brackets to build it. Lots of nicks and broken wood. It took three guys 4.5 hours to put together. Our builder said it looked refurbished. For this price, I expected better. ... show more
