Disclosure: I received this portable Basketball Hoop for free as part of the Amazon Vine program. This arrived in a very large (and heavy) box. I faintly remembered the measurement of 32x 30 and wondered if someone had sent me the entire NBA by mistake. Imagine my relief when I opened the large outer box and found the much smaller box with the basketball hoop inside. This is a bit smaller than the one we had over our Garage and it is height adjustable. How a family with tall parents, and even taller grandparents can produce so many short people is beyond me. We all love sports and basketball gives all of us the opportunity to play together. Even the diaper brigade plays on their little hoops. This hoop requires some assembly, but it is straight forward and one person can do it in less than a half hour. It took me about 15 minutes longer but I got side tracked by the dog who thought she could chew on the parts. I put it together in the garage and then dragged it in the driveway. I did fill it with sand and water to produce a kind of slurry that keeps the hoop more stable than sand or water alone. Despite the fill I have a small issue with stability. I don't recommend that you try to hang from the rim, because this will lean precariously or even topple over. Overall this is a great basketball hoop. The smaller size makes it fairly easy to move around the driveway and I assume we could also take it apart and take it with us to the Cabin next summer. I find the price reasonable.

This review is for the backyard basketball hoop, it seems like the listing has since changed to a pool basketball hoop. The backyard hoop was great, we put it in the driveway and enjoy using it. It is a little short for adults but perfect for younger kids. It is height adjustable too for even younger kids to easily reach. Assembly was fine with two people, it didn't take too long. It is portable so it is perfect for moving around for best positioning, or storing it out of sight when not in use. It does need a bit of weight to be stable though, I added some water and it seemed to be good enough. Overall it is good quality and great as a family activity or getting the kids more active. It was perfect as a way to introduce a 6 year old to basketball, and hopefully he will use it for a long time, adjusting the height as necessary.

The first day this hoop went up, my family (and neighbor kids) turned into a surprisingly loud basketball team with zero scouting report. The BACKYARD BLITZ portable basketball hoop is a solid driveway option with a classic pole-and-base design meant for home practice, casual games, and neighborhood bragging rights. Once assembled, it feels stable and well put together, with materials that seem more durable than the bargain hoops that wobble if you breathe near them. The overall design is simple and sporty, and it blends into a driveway without looking cheap. Putting it together is a moderate project, not a quick snap-together moment. You’ll be working through multiple bolts, pole sections, and the backboard mount, and it helps to have a second person when lifting and aligning the backboard. The base needs to be filled with water or sand, and the stability difference is huge, sand is heavier and feels more secure if you have the option. After tightening everything down and weighting the base properly, it stays steady for normal play, and rolling it to reposition is reasonable, though it’s still a large object with opinions. On-court performance, meaning driveway performance, is good for the target use. The rim feels solid for shooting, layups, and normal rebounds, and the backboard response is decent for practice. If your model includes height adjustment, it’s useful for households with kids and adults, but it can take a bit of effort to change, so it’s not something you’ll want to adjust ten times in one afternoon. For regular use, it provides a consistent target and doesn’t feel like it’s trying to tip over every time someone misses badly. There are a few real-world trade-offs. Portable hoops can wobble with aggressive play, and if someone treats it like a gym hoop and pulls on the rim, you’ll see movement, that’s just physics and driveway life. Wind can also push it around if the base isn’t fully weighted, and “portable” means it can roll, which is great until it rolls somewhere annoying. The base footprint takes up space, so plan where it will live when you’re not using it. Overall it’s a fun, sturdy home hoop that works well for shooting and games, with the normal limits of any portable setup. It's also a great value! This is a review for a portable basketball hoop from BACKYARD BLITZ but it seems the listing attached to my purchase has changed to a similar hoop for pools in white color - but for transparency and clarity this review is for the normal backyard/indoor variation that has a black paint job. As I live in a dynamic environment, I can't devote space to any one activity for too long. I need to move things in and out of view or usage position depending on the needs of the day or week. I really wanted to shoot hoops in the backyard but feared I didn't have the space - but this portable system with adjustable hoop was exactly what I needed and made that dream a reality! The backboard isn't full sized but that's fine as I just wanted something solid enough to engage with. The base requires sand or water to stabilize, and you can put more stuff like sandbags on top of it if need be. The backboard has a transparent construction which I think looks really cool, and the adjustable height not only helps accommodate players of different sizes and skills, it helps compact it and make it more movable or less visible as needed which is useful to hide it from the HOA! For the $95 asking price, the fun and exercise I get out of this is worth the price tenfold due to the environmental flexibility and ease of use. Recommended - though it appears this item may no longer be available from here.
