After much consideration, I reluctantly ordered this flat iron as a gift for my teen aged daughter. We have been a CHI family and I was unhappy with the fact that shortly after I purchased my Chi the cord started to short circuit and eventually it just died. My daughter has a head FULL of hair that's super thick and is naturally curly/wavy and usually very hard to tame. The sheer amount of hair on her head is one problem, let alone the thickness and coarseness of it is a whole other issue. She has a tough time straightening her hair just because it takes SO long and there is so much of it. I was really hesitant to buy a flat iron that I knew nothing about but I read several great reviews of this one, and even found it at Ulta and talked to a few of the styling ladies there who said they had used it and it worked very, very well. There was a light mishap with the shipping (bad weather delayed its arrival by a few days but it arrived before Christmas so it was fine) but the item was exactly what I ordered. I loved the fact that this has titanium plates and was 1.75" plates - 3/4" larger than the Chi we had. I also liked that it had a temperature control so you could select what setting you want because I have very fine hair and didn't want to scorch my hair if I needed to use this iron. She was really hesitant and was set on getting a Chi so I told her to go upstairs and just try it out to see. She came down maybe 20 minutes later with the softest, silkiest and STRAIGHTEST hair I've ever seen her with. She said that she LOVED it and it was so easy to use and FAST... literally ONE PASS with each section of hair. Granted, she used the hottest setting but her hair was super shiny and soft. I used the iron later the same day and set the temp on 375 and it worked like magic on my hair, too! My hair is much more fine but I have quite a bit so it didn't take me longer than 15 minutes to completely straighten my hair. It was PIN straight and I received several comments/compliments from our friends at dinner that night! We both also loved the fact that this iron does NOT grab or pull your hair like the Chi does. I used to get so irritated because no matter how gentle I was, I still ripped out hair after hair using my old Chi and this one didn't pinch or pull at ALL. I cannot recommend this highly enough and I strongly urge you to set your concerns aside and give this product a try. I was a big Chi fan....until I found this! I don't think I will ever purchase another Chi iron again!

I have had many flat irons over the years. My first was an expensive 2 inch chi which I really liked. Unfortunately after several years it stopped working. The next one was a gift from my husband, a 1nch chi which had no temperature controls and was no match for my curly hair. I passed that one along to my daughter. Next was the Sedu Revolution which again was pretty pricey but I wanted to try another brand. This 1 inch flat iron would straighten my hair but I had to work at it. The edges were squared off which caused my hairs to always get pulled. It got pretty gunky looking after a short time but I continued to use it. About one year from the time I purchased it, I was using it but it wasn't straightening my hair. At first thought it was the Florida humidity until I put my hand on the plates and discovered one side was hot and the other was not heated. Spent a few weeks with curly hair researching another model to get. After many reviews, I got really good vibes about the BaBylissPro Nano 1 3/4 inch so I ordered it. THIS IS THE BEST FLAT IRON I HAVE USED!!!!! I opened the new package at the same time my husband was fixing us a salad for dinner. I had my whole head down at the same time our salad was finished. My husband's words exactly were: "THAT'S AMAZING!" I have had a 1inch (too thin for thick curly hair) the 2 inch which worked but was a bit tricky to manuever and now the 1 3/4 inch. THIS IS THE PERFECT SIZE FOR PEOPLE WITH THICK CURLY HAIR. It is not to small yet not too big. I love the ease of the electronic controls. It heats up very quickly and it has several heat settings. I didn't even need to set it on the highest setting. It glides through my hair nicely without pulling any hairs out which is a nice change of pace. The handle does not get hot but the top plates do get very hot so you have to be careful. All in all this was a win win for me. A GREAT PRICE ON A FLAT IRON THAT DELIVERS!!!!!!!

amazing flat iron. If you're considering purchasing one do it! Especially if you have coarse, curly or thick hair. It really gets the hair STRAIGHT. I got the 1 3/4in ...its big, but it works wonders on my extensions. Im going to purchase the smaller version as well.

I’ve had my old ionic one pass for over ten years and it finally bit the dust. I debated and researched for weeks before I decided to get this one. It arrived this morning and I only had about 10-15 minutes to try it out before I had to leave. I wasn’t expecting much. It usually takes me forever to straighten my hair. I have thick course hair and section it into 4 sections to straighten. This is the results after going over it quickly so I know I can get my ends smoother when I can actually focus. It’s a hot humid Texas day and this has blown my mind. Worth the money. Beautiful packaging. I followed the recommendations and used 410 heat, no damage and my hair is shinning brightly. Was fast to heat up.

I have had this brand of straightener for 3 years. I have very thick course hair so there isn’t a lot of straighteners I can buy that make my hair look amazing, including the same brand of one. It is expensive, it has quit within a year, but it is pretty much the only straightener I have owned that makes my hair look amazing. The warranty is pretty good also. Just make sure you keep your receipt, hence why I’m buying this one instead of using the warranty. I thought my old one quit so I bought this one. My third one. I wouldn’t recommend leaving it in your car over night. I think that’s why I had the issues I did at least initially with my second one of it starting then turning off immediately 3x. I’d still recommend buying it if you have hair like mine then maybe get a chi for traveling.

I used to use a Sedu flat iron that also had a 1 3/4" plate. That was a pretty good iron but I went through 4 of them in like 5 years. It straightened wonderfully but would short out around 2 years later with everyday use. After the last one stopped working, I started asking around for an iron that could handle a lot of use. An acquaintance of mine is a professional hairdresser and she recommended the Babyliss Pro Titanium. I took her word for it and bought it. I have had it for 2 months now and it straightens perfectly! It gets a little hotter than my Sedu...I think it goes up to 425 and the Sedu only went up to 400. I only use my Babyliss at 410 because I am afraid to completely fry my hair! My hair does not look damaged from it, and it gets my hair stick straight. I would also suggest these wider plates because it covers a lot more hair in less time. Another good thing about this iron is that it has a 4 year warranty!! That to me is huge because my previous Sedu iron only had a 2 year and that is literally when I began to have issues with it so it was always too late to return it. The 4 year warranty makes me feel more secure that it will last me quite a while. My only complaint about the Babyliss Pro is that the metal gets so hot, that I have burned my hands pretty good with it a couple of times when I first began using it. The Sedu had a plastic coating so while it did get warm, it never burned my hands when I was trying to put small strands of hair into the iron. You have to be very careful touching the outside of the Babayliss plates because they are covered in the metal and are not insulated well. I have had several marks burned onto my hand but it has gotten better because I am now used to using the iron. I would still recommend this iron but I would just say, watch out!

The slightly narrower one is a better buy as far as use for styling in my opinion. This one is a little bulky and hard to hold and heavy. It straightens well and heats fast.. just annoying to hold long enough to do my thick and curly hair…
