Description

Check out the Janome HD3000BE sewing machine - a stylish black sewing machine that, while built for heavy duty work, is still easy enough for beginners to learn in no time. Sewing for beginners becomes a world of possibility with this simple sewing machine, which can handle quilting, leather, hemming, upholstery, and even basic embroidery. In a nutshell, beginner sewing reaches higher heights with the Janome HD-3000BE, a rare beginner friendly sewing machine with the simplicity you need, but with durability that even a professional sewist would require. A sturdy aluminum frame and mechanical dial controls make this household sewing machine a powerful and reliable tool - plus it's portable enough to bring to sewing classes and from room to room. This portable sewing machine for adults has a strong 5-piece feed dog system, allowing it to hem denim, repair upholstery, layer seams, and more. The extra- high presser foot lift gives you the clearance you need for bulky fabrics (like leather!) and the drop-feed capability allows for free-motion quilting, darning, and simple, hand-guided embroidery. The tailoring machine keeps things intuitive with mechanical stitch selection. The built-in automatic needle threader makes setup much easier for beginners, or anyone trying to avoid eye strain. Stitch length and width adjustments are easy to find, keeping the learning curve gentle and fun. The tabletop sewing machine runs on a dependable electric motor and includes a responsive foot pedal for precise speed control, from slow, careful stitching to a strong top speed of 860 stitches per minute. The HD3000BE also comes with premium accessories: an Even Feed (walking) foot for layered fabrics, an Ultra Glide Foot for leather, a leather needle set, standard presser feet, a free arm for sleeves and cuffs, and a hard cover for protection. No doubt, the HD-3000BE will last for years to come!"

  • A WONDERFUL machine!
While I'm very much a beginner, I'm not unfamiliar with sewing machines. I've owned a couple of sewing machines, but I've never been a very serious sewist. I started with a mechanical Brother and it was difficult. I switched over to a computerized Brother (a mid-level machine) which was significantly easier to manage with my skills. Pillowcases, dog coats, never overly serious about sewing, but not a total newb. However, after getting a little more serious about sewing (and wanting to learn quilting), I realized I wanted a sturdier machine. I decided I understood tension, stitch length, etc., and more of the nuisances of sewing well enough. So, I decided I'd go with a manual machine again. I've since been working on several projects; quilts, pillowcases, potholders, a few clothing repairs, etc. I LOVE this machine! Yes, I miss the "needle down" button, but not enough to ever consider going back to a computerized machine. This thing is a beast and handles everything I've thrown at it. The best part? It feeds so well and straight! I barely have to hold my fabric at all. I will only use my Brother for embroidery henceforth because this Janome is wonderful. There is a learning curve to manual adjustments, but nothing the manual or YT cannot solve for you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your machine. If you're having an issue, it can be resolved! The only thing I'd change with this Janome is a longer cord (my set-up makes it a stretch). AND a more readily available extension table for quilting. ... show more

  • Defective Machine Received
The one which I have received was a defected machine it did not even do a simple stich … forget about the rest of the stiches … I have uploaded the video that how it stich … it makes a big mess of threads in the back and top front has almost no stich at all … I have spent almost 5 hours and wanted this machine to work normal … the instructions were not clear at all but I have watched so many utube videoes as well but unfortunately this machine was a defective piece … very disappointed … returned it … ... show more

  • Good quality machine
Excellent product. My wife had a basic Singer that was 20 years old. Nothing wrong with it, but I wanted to get her an upgrade since shes gotten into quilting. This machine fit my budget while having the features she would like. Performance wise is has been flawless. Very happy with it.

  • Did the Canvas Work I bought It for
We had a few canvas projects on our boat and we wanted to do them ourselves and save money. We were very close to getting a Sailrite, but I thought we should give a "heavy duty" sewing machine a try first, and the black version was only $270 when I bought it. I have used it for drapes, cushions and repairing canvas enclosures, and it has done really well. That was with V92 thread and #18 needle. A walking foot would definitely be nice, but until we hit something this won't handle, we will keep using it. I agree with others, I don't much like the black color as it is hard to see your work, but the machine itself has been great to work with. I do not do a lot of sewing, but after watching Youtubes and then trying the the same things on the Janome, everything worked. I never felt like the machine wasn't strong enough. And I was able to match the lengths and stitch styles as well as play with the tension to get quality stitches. Even though it isn't a walking foot, it still does a good job feeding the fabric. For large stuff, like our enclosures, you just need plenty of room and you carry carry the fabric along some to avoid having the machine trying to drag it through. ... show more

  • Not a fan of black
Nice machine but if I were to choose again, I would not pick a black machine. I find it is harder to follow the fabric and thread when using it.

  • Quite the little power machine
I've been sewing for many years but not much industrial sewing. I bought this to add surf pockets to our boat bimini. This involves sewing heavy canvas with heavy weight thread and heavy sewing needles. I have enough experience with machines that the few tension issues I ran into I was able to fix pretty quickly. There is a fair amount of tension adjustment. When I used this to sew a thinner material for blind backing, I had tension issues similar to some other reviewers. So, while his machine works great on heavy materials, I won't use it on lighter weight materials. When sewing the bimini, at times I was going through 7 layers of canvas + exterior reinforcement vinyl. If crossing over perpendicular seams I sometimes slowed and turned the needle by hand, but otherwise I used the presser foot. It's true this machine doesn't have bells and whistles, but I have another machine for those. I was able to transition from 1 to the 7+ layers without much tension adjustment, if any. I used Schmetz 18/110 and 16/100 needles that said made for home machines and had no issues with their size. I did add the walking foot attachment. I'm 100% sure I couldn't have done this project without it. It says for quilting only, but it worked. I also have an external bobbin stand for the Selric UV Resistant High Strength Polyester Thread #69 T70 Size 210D/3 (V Resistant High Strength Polyester Thread #69 T70 Size 210D/3 (purchased on Amazon). I ran it through the machine, set the stand to the side and set the lid down but did not push it closed. Conclusion: For this price point this machine is fantastic. Comparable industrial machines cost $1,000+. I would definitely buy it again. ... show more

  • Piece of crap don't waste your money
Died at four months!! I was free motion quilting and it started slowing, making noise, then quit sewing. No thread jams nothing. Amazon won't help because it's been 4 months have to mail machine off to have it even looked at What a wasye This is my second try at this machine - the first one was so inconsistent in stitches and very clanky while turning dial to switch stitches I returned it. It's a beautiful machine, great value if all of the stitches work - my automatic buttonhole foot has the little plastic lip broken off right from the box - one of the primary things I want my machine to do, make nice buttonholes. Too much trouble to return entire machine for that so I spent more money and ordered a replacement foot. Will see how the machine hold up the next few weeks ... show more

  • Does everything I need!
This is my 5th machine. It was bought to replace my Singer Stylist. Instead of getting another low end computerized model to only last a few years, I decided to invest in a mid grade model, Janome, manual, heavy duty. It is strong and moves through multiple layers with ease and it has all of the stitches I would suggest to any beginner or advanced sewer. This is my 1st Janome but I'm very familiar with the quality from working in costume shops. Don't be misled by some of the comments from people who are not used to setting up their machine. Hold your bobbin thread as it fills; that's standard procedure for experienced sewers. I expect to use this machine for decades to come in making my own garments. It has stitches and pessure feet for nearly every type of apparel fabric as well as a one step automatic buttonhole option. This machine with last long and take care of all your basic needs. ... show more
