Before purchasing this device I previous used an A***s foil shaver on my head (and face) for the past 2 years. I would say that the Babybliss is step up on all fronts. This razor is quieter than the competitor, has a more substantial feel and is a thicker more premium plastic, the case is more rectangular, which I find easier to hold, the unit turns off with the replacement of the foil guard/"cover" as the on/off switch is on the side so the cover pushes it down/off when it is replaced and the cleaning of the shaver is about the same as the competitor. I purchased this unit on sale for just a little more than the other razor and feel that this one if a better value for the money. As far as closeness of the shave, I would say that they are about the same or this razor might be slightly closer, but they both provide a very close shave, much closer than my nearly $300 Series 9 Braun. Lastly it has 4 blue LEDs that indicate the battery level so you're not guessing at the state of charge, I have been using it daily for both my head and face and I just dropped down to 2 LEDs, around 50% charge. All in all I would definitely purchase this device again and am very happy with it.

I’ve used the fancy Braun and Panasonic shavers that cost triple this and they absolutely suck in comparison. This shaves my head so close that I’ve stopped using a razor. There’s no mess, the battery life is killer, and it’s so simple and easy to use. Can’t recommend this for head shaving enough.

It caused terrible painful irritation at first, I nearly gave up. After a couple weeks it was much better and after a month no more irritation. It provides a much closer shave than my rotary, really as close as a blade. But the irritation is really really bad at first, and it's quite loud. I guess I would rank it as aggressive, but very functional.

Update - after 8 months, this piece of crap stopped working completely. Battery died on it and went to charge it. Something overheated and the outside case melted. When I opened it up, the motor was completely covered with corrosion and residue. I had been using it with shaving cream as the company shows you can do that. Apparently, that isn’t the case. This thing is not sealed whatsoever from water getting inside. At first, I thought the motor just went kaput and would be covered by warranty. I already know that the company won’t cover it now because of using it like any other razor I have owned previously. If you decide to take the chance with this, DON’T USE WATER TO CLEAN IT!!!! And no, you can’t use shaving cream with it despite what is demonstrated. Now, I’m out a good chunk of change for a piece of crap. I should have just bought a Braun or Wahl. It would have been cheaper and sealed against water intrusion. Original review - what was I thinking?!? I decided to get another electric razor after shaving exclusively with a safety razor for the last 10 years. I wanted something a little better than the big box stores had and found this with glowing reviews. Well, after 7 months of use, I feel I can finally give an honest opinion of it. It works really well. It shaved extremely close to the skin and is easy to clean and maintain. It had this weird bug for a bit where it would shut off intermittently while shaving, but would start right back up again once the switch was turned off and back on again. It hasn’t done that now for a couple months, so I think that might have been a fluke, but it was still annoying. Since then, it has been working flawlessly and the thing holds a dang good charge! I don’t think I have charged it since its initial charging when I got it in February, 2023. I am very happy with it and foresee it lasting a long time. It is very well built and well designed. Easy to hold and maneuver while shaving. It is a bit more expensive than other shavers, but it is worth it. If you are considering getting it, just go for it! You won’t regret it!

This shaver is incredible! I've been shaving my head with a razor four times a week for the past six months, and my first time using the Babyliss FX3 was leaps and bounds better than any shave with a razor. The cut is 99% as close as what a five-blade razor can achieve. If I miss a spot, I don't have to worry about razor burn when I go back over the same area like I would with a traditional razor. This shaver has also saved me a lot of time—I no longer need to deal with shaving cream and the slow process of shaving my head with a razor. My scalp and face are thanking me for getting this shaver, and I'm very grateful for the time it saves me as well.

Cleaning it is a breeze. This one's exactly like my barber's so I was very happy with my purchase. You have to know how to cut with one of these though or you will get razor burn. Smooth shave for longer.
