We’ve had this gate for about six months with continuous usage. We use this to keep the dog out of the laundry room where the cat’s litter box is. Because she’s a senior kitty, we wanted a gate with a cat door for her to enter and exit easily. Our cat is probably about 15 pounds and she has no issues using the kitty door. The gate was easy to assemble. But make sure that you read all the directions first. there’s one strap that if you cut it before you are supposed to, it will make installing the gate very difficult. I am able to open and close the gate with only one hand. Which is a spectacular feature. You actually only need two fingers, the latch is a great design! I’ve also never had any issues with the Kitty door, staying in the open position or closed position. 10/10

The way the screws fit into the metal frame allows the assembly to turn while you’re trying to tighten it. You have to hold one side of the assembly while you turn the other side and it’s difficult because of the small space. Once it becomes a little bit tight it will stop turning so you can continue with the provided tool but it’s difficult to get it started

I'm not sure why reviewers had a hard time installing, but it was easy. We installed, then uninstalled due to carpet install, then reinstalled again. I can't speak about how well the cat door works. It's always up, so I have not had to go up and down with it. My cat has free range, but now my cat can have a break from my dog. The dog tested it's strength a time or two- hard (she's about 60 pounds and hit it full force), since I feed the cat while the dog watches from the other side of the gate. Gate holds, no problem. The cat (an old cat) learned to go through the cat door in one try with cat food on the other side.

I absolutely love this gate! I am about to order my 3rd one. It keeps my 26 lb puppy away from the cats, and the cats had no issue with using it. Larger cats may not fit through as easily. The gate is pretty easy to open, and it automatically shuts, or it will stay open if you push it all the way open. I am very happy with this product!
