The mattress rose to the full height 5" and is very comfortable, had to cuddle a couple of times, so I tried it out. The only issue that I have with it, (and I have bought foam mattresses before) is that the smell is horrible. It has been nearly 3 weeks and the smell persists. Granted it is winter and I cannot open the windows, but sleeping with your face on this concerns me. It is now out on the deck in 34 degree weather airing out. Do not buy this baby mattress if you don’t like strong odors. The smell is horrendous! I left it outside for a week straight because it stunk up my whole house of strong chemicals. After bringing it inside it STILL emitted the stench. I got my money back on this. Not sure why a company would make something like this for tiny babies knowing how strong the smell is.
