I used these to fill my pool from my well. In comparison to last year (without filter) the water is less green at first fill, but it is still tinged a little. I guess it helped. basicly my tap water is 70 ppm and this did nothing. It is a charcoal filter element soo it will take bulk material out and absorb contaminants but don't get this if you are trying to reduce water spots from washing a car or reduce ppm level unless its well water . 18 bucks is a lot for a 1 stage filter. ... show more

Following other reviews, I'm using off label as a filter on cold water line to washing machine to prevent well grit from messing up washer. Just do the pre-conditioning flush per instructions to wash out loose carbon particles (wouldn't want those in washing machine) before putting in line to washer. Amazon doesn't just sell the filter, so looks like I'll buy a different brand filter when this one eventually clogs because there's no need to replace the short flexible hose part again. ... show more
