    • Good - too many wires
I wanted to use it for a while before reviewing.....which I have done now. First - I wasn't thrilled with the amount of wiring that is involved with installing this unit - took over an hour to install so that I could try to route wires in a manner that left them somewhat concealed. Ultimately, there is still a fair amount of wire exposure - which is less than ideal. Functionally - the product works very well - nice clear pictures, and a 64gb card, which is good for saving video if needed. The "pre-recording" collision detection seems to be a nice feature (hopefully will never need it!) that might come in handy if I ever have an incident with another driver ad they aren't "honest" about their behavior while driving. Could save a major insurance headache - which is why I wanted this. The instructions are well written and easy to understand - which is a good thing - too many products don't seem to understand the importance of giving clear instructions - these people got it right. If the wiring was less burdensome - I would give it 5 stars.... ... show more

I've reviewed 5-6 dashcams over the last several months and I'm starting to see a lot of similarities in the wiring mindset of the manufacturers. I believe they believe we don't care about a wiring mess all over our dash. Where to start...the cameras are good, front and back views are good with output that is easy to watch on a 17" laptop. The magnifying glass in my image was for reading the screen on the primary camera. The writing was small, be prepared. Setup was fairly easy having done an AZDome previously. My complaints are the assumption that we can't figure out where to plug things in so there are three different USB plug types used, when properly labeling things would be just as easy. Then not using the more ubiquitous USB-C for everything precludes using a modern cable. Further, it would prevent the need to have a USB charging plug sticking out of the dash on a permanent basis since a long term device like this should be hardwired for tidiness. Alas, I can't because a) it's not recommended for what reason I don't know and b) it doesn't matter since the cord I already have in place doesn't match. I'm planning this for a Jeep Wrangler that has already had four long term test cameras and everything gets wired down the passenger side. The rear cam is designed for a rear window on the interior driver's side. I need to work around a large spare tire hanging off the back and existing plumbing and wiring that is already resident in that area. A large amount of OEM wiring runs down the driver's side so finding a better way to get things where they need to be will take some work. The Jeep also has a very vertical windshield which makes mounting a front cam more difficult if heat will be an issue as it's normally always in the sun and not protected by a tinted windshield. Heat has been a frustration with these devices in this application because they exceed the 150 plus degrees the manufacturer says is to be expected. I sound like I'm complaining but if we could have a way to safely wire things without plugging in another device, mount it so it can not be in direct sun all the time and be allowed the freedom to mount a rear cam inside or out and reverse the image if needed, things would be better. 3.5/5 ... show more
