While most reviews were good, sometimes that's not the whole story. But, this rack turned out to be a great purchase. The price was very good. It was well packed and arrived very quickly. All the necessary parts were there, and a generous supply of 5mm and 6mm screws with washers. It can be assembled to handle either size. Aside from a parts checklist, there was no documentation in the box. I took a few minutes to watch a video about assembly, but it was pretty evident how it went together. I just didn't want to make a dumb mistake. Note that the wheels come already mounted to the base. Just be sure that the wheels with the locks go on the front. So, the rack is very sturdy. I love it! I finally have a spot for all of my systems, racks to hold laptops, switches, cable-modems... they're all on there. It came with all the hardware too, for filling it it up with all the rack-mount things. Very solid construction, and on wheels so it's easy to maneuver and work behind. Glad I bought the 22U, as it keep finding things to put in it. Note: does NOT have the square holes that most rackmount cabinets have. So if you have the square hardware, it won't work on this unit. But plenty of screws included in this one that it wasn't a problem for me. ... show more

You've undoubtedly noticed there are a multitude of ways to spend loads of cash on a simple rack. If you're looking for a rack meticulously handcrafted from the finest old-growth Limousine oak by Benedictine monks with hand-forged Damascus steel rails and a price tag to match, you can probably find it. If what you need is a clean, modern, sturdy, aesthetically pleasing rack that looks and functions like it belongs in a 21st-century studio, look no further. Assembly is straightforward, the resulting unit being well-supported and rolls easily. The powdercoated finish is fitting for either a home or professional setting. The casters have wheel locks - a nice feature. You have a choice when installing the rails such that either the 6mm European or 5mm American formats are on the mounting side. This cabinet is a good value for the money, and was easy to assemble. The cabinet tends to "rack" slightly until at least one panel is installed to hold it square. It is definitely not a commercial grade unit (no such claim is made, however) but fine for home audio/studio or other light duty applications. Be aware that as designed, the components of this cabinet are electrically isolated (not bonded) from each other by the paint finish and the fiber washers supplied with the machine screws. We added a ground buss to the bottom panel to create an earthing point and replaced the fiber washers with metal ones to pierce the paint and bond all components to form a grounded enclosure. ... show more

    • Nice addition to my son's "studio / data center".
I purchased this for my son as a way to consolidate various audio/studio and computer gear. I've worked in IT most of my career and have seen some pretty cheap racks before and wasn't expecting too much in the way of quality when I purchased this but was (pleasantly) surprised at it's construction and overall quality. The instructions were decent and assembly only took a few minutes for me to put it together (you'll need an extra set of hands for some of it) A power screwdriver would be handy but not required. I had no issues with the included hardware but I did purchase extra rack screws to be on the safe side as a few buyers mentioned they had problems with some of the hardware (I didn't). The packaging was done well and it arrived undamaged. The rack's finish was good too - it looks professional and more expensive than it is. I don't think I would ship gear installed in it or move it very often (like from room to room, etc.) but the castors are decent enough (again compared to what I was expecting for the price paid). This might make a good choice for home theater A/V gear but keep in mind that it does not have a front or back to it so if your setup isn't in it's own closet or room it may not be the right choice. ... show more

You cannot go wrong with how strong the steel is here. I was afraid that 4 front screws wouldn't be strong enough to hold my heavy Roland synth without some kind of support rail along the back, but it holds on tight defying my conceptions of the laws of torque.

    • Exactly what I was looking for.
The pictures I saw on line didn't give me a very good appreciation for the design. Now that I have it in place and have been using it for several months, I can say that it works very well. The design is actually very nice. It is a nice black industrial look that I like. I have a number of rack mount synths and 8x1 mixers I needed to consolidate. This ended being the perfect solution for me. Everything fits great. The unit is VERY sturdy. And the wheels allow me to move the whole unit around in my studio. Good purchase for me. ... show more
