I’ve had plenty of TVs and projectors over the years, and the AWOL beats all. The picture is stunning vibrant colors, great brightness even with light in the room, razor-sharp detail. For years, I have told myself to not buy (anymore of) the bleeding edge technology gadgets. The AWOL LTV 3000 Pro falls into the bleeding edge category, but I still purchased one anyway. I did this after checking a bunch of YouTube reviews of the AWOL LTV Pro series. Generally, the reviews left me a sense of lacking (as with other projector reviews). Pays your money, takes your chances. Upon powering up the LTV 3000, my initial reaction was abruptly favorable. The projected video on a cream colored wall was very good. I recently added a 100 inch ALR screen which made the picture even better. Accuracy, focus, color aberrations, contrasts are wonderful. Fonts were remarkable. Color rendition is outstanding (either from streaming or from a Panasonic Blu Ray player). Of course, a darken the room helps. Out of the box, the internal speakers were dreadful sounding. Finding the equalization and tone controls on the remote mostly solved the situation (adjusting to boost the high frequencies). Normally, I use the optical digital audio output to my HiFi system so these adjustments are not relevant. There are 3 HDMI ports available. One is sort of dedicated to a streaming stick which can be hidden in a recessed area in the back of the unit. A cover is provided to hide the stick and local wires. A Firestick seems to work fine, Roku needs to have its WiFi long range wire extended. It would have been nice if AWOL provided some holes thru the cover for wire access. There are 2 USB ports, however I have not used or tested them. There is also a video component input. I do miss not having an over the air TV tuner. The HDMI ports all work fine, both with streaming and Blu Ray players. Just as you should expect from modern HDMI systems. The video component input presented to me an opportunity for a time warp to the past. My Super Beta HiFi worked great as a video source. Picture was good. Sound was good too. However the 4:3 aspect ratio was not preserved (stretched to 16:9). Naturally the old 350 line resolution was not improved. (Note: one can buy elsewhere a converter box that preserves the 4:3.) Most of my viewing has been streaming HD content, no problems, good job here. I had some difficulties with UHD 4K. Either or both the Panasonic DP-UB820 Blu Ray player and the LTV 3000 doesn’t like something. I ended up switching the LTV 3000 inputs while restarting the disc in the player. Problem sometimes occurred just as the user selects “Play” on the disc’s intro screen. Otherwise the UHD display looks fine. I haven’t tried out any of the Dolby options. 3D worked great (using AWOL glasses). But the 3D requires a manual selection on the LTV 3000. The 3D display initially starts up with a double image, one on top of the other until the LTV 3000 gets into it true 3D mode. The main issue for me is that the LTV 3000 automatically exits the 3D mode whereas manual intervention is required to start the 3D mode. A typical 3D disc jumps between 2D and 3D during the intro phase of the disc. (My 12 year old Sharp LCD TV automatically detects 3D and activates same.) 3D performance is quite good, A darken room helps the experience. The things listed above are what can be seen as the pluses. Only one issue needs to be stated. The LTV 3000 has a variable speed cooling fan. Things are quiet at first. Usually as the video proceeds, the fan speeds up (noticeable fan noise is still acceptable). After an hour and half of 4K UHD, the fan seems loud. All in all, if you able to spend the large amount of money, the AWOL LTV 3000 Pro is a buy. Just don’t forget that you can but a couple of 75 inch high end large flat screen TVs for the same amount of money or less than the LTV 3000.

I've owned projectors for well over a decade and have always loved the immersive experience of a huge screen. But laser projection—especially the AWOL Aetherion Pro—is on a completely different level than the traditional projectors I've used in the past. I'll start with the only downside before moving on to everything that's great. Because this is an ultra-short-throw projector, it sits close to the wall and projects upward. That means the image starts roughly 18 inches above the floor. If you have low ceilings, especially in a basement with an 8-foot ceiling or less, you'll need to plan carefully. You may find that you can't achieve the screen size you want without the image reaching the ceiling. In my case, I had to settle for a 10-foot diagonal image instead of the 13.5-foot image I previously had with a traditional projector. It's not a flaw with the projector—just something buyers should understand before purchasing. Now for the good. The picture quality is simply incredible. It's one of the brightest, most vibrant displays I've ever seen. Even in my dedicated theater room, it's bright enough to light up the room, yet somehow the extra light doesn't wash out the image. The colors are rich, the contrast is outstanding, and the black levels are astonishing. It's honestly difficult to explain how it produces blacks that look so deep on a standard white projection screen. This is an expensive purchase, but I have absolutely no regrets. I'm genuinely blown away every time I turn it on. I uploaded a few videos to give people an idea of what it looks like with the lights on and off, but no camera can truly capture what your eyes see in person. That was the hardest part about reading reviews before I bought it—there's simply no accurate way for photos or videos to convey just how impressive this projector really is.

Recently bought LTV-3000 Pro. Overall happy with it. Reaction so far: Pros: - Beautiful picture and color. Very bright, watchable even with some ambient light and no screen. WIll be getting a screen as soon as I figure out what size I want it to be, probably 120-135 inch. - 3D works and looks good for most part, (but is manual turn on-off and you have to diddle with it every time, see Cons) - very little adjustment necessary for size, it is auto focus. Just make sure both corners of the unit are equidistant from the wall. - DOlby Vision and color look great, as long as you don't choose 'vivid' settings. Cons: - Low refresh rate at 60 Hz max. This is problematic for high motion movies, 3D, and gaming. while you can turn on motion smoothing for TV shows, this is not ideal for movies where you dont want the 'Soap Opera' video effect. - 3D is bare bones. You have to manually enable it and fiddle with the settings (swap right left) every time you watch a basic 3D blueray. Not quite 'Pro' level. Also the low refresh makes action sequences with a lot of camera panning just a big blur. In areas with white colors, you get a rainbow effect during movement. Still, it is 'mostly' acceptable, just not awesome. - Menus are primitive, with little to no explanation of what the settings do, either on screen or even in the manual. Aparently you have to go online. Definitely not 'Pro' level. - Gaming is a mixed bag so far. The low refresh rate cuts down responsiveness majorly. There maybe settings tweaks to workaround this, but havent dug into that yet.

Love this for home theater. Researched a ton of options for a home theater and went with AWOL due to short throw distance given the size of our room. Set up was pretty intuitive. Also bought the corresponding floor screen from same company. This system has transformed our room into a legit movie theater. Picture is amazing- clarity, colors etc. we hooked it up to an external surround sound for movies but the internal speakers were good for tv shows.

Just thought I would write a short review on my experience with my purchase of the LTV3000 pro. First of all I think we are so used to the amazing delivery times from Amazon. This was not the case with my purchase. My unit was stuck in Hong Kong for almost eight days before it was even released for shipping. So it was not sent from Amazon but from Awol. It was a nightmare getting Fedex updates for delivery time. Tech support was helpful in getting me answers but I think the time frame was crazy. Awol offered me a pair of glasses for my troubles, I have not received any glasses currently. Next my issue was when the unit arrived. I was excited to set it up and enjoy the quality of all the reviews I had gone though. Set up was pretty simple with the usual moving the unit left, right, back, forward, up and down like all projectors getting them to fit on your screen. Then came the reality. The picture does look impressive and Dolby Vision came on and was detected with my Apple 4k TV. But this unit has Chromatic Aberration and is very annoying. Color drop shadow on text and graphics and on the top and bottom of all letterbox formats. I had not seen any comments by anyone describing this issue. I contacted tech support. One person was just not even close to helping. Asking me what screen I was using and that I should be able to fix it if I go though the menu. I sent many picture to another agent and he did confirm that it was indeed Chromatic Aberration and that this was just how it was and thanks for my understanding. I'm not totally convinced that AWOL would be ok sending out a product where they know that they have a lense that can't focus and want to charge upward of $4000. I was replacing an LG Cinebeam with this model. and in comparison the Awol does have a better image with it's Dolby Vision, but there is no Chromatic Aberration on the LG. I know they are different tech. I am not sure and still have no answer from Awol if this is an issue on all units or if it could be a defect on mine. Hopefully I will be able to get some answers and be able to give a more honest opinion on the LTV3000 pro. But for not I'm not exactly a happy customer.

Best picture quality that I have ever seen which is tuned for Dolby vision. I also bought their floor rising ALR screen and it is perfect for 120 inches. I was going to get 100 inch screen but I can see that it would be too small for the throw ratio for the UST motorized cabinet I bought (brand: Povision). One slight aggregation is that the volume controls on the remote are place in the second row of about 4 rows of the sized row buttons. I often hit the button for Netflix or YouTube which takes me about of the app I am watching just to turn the volume up or down (shared wall neighbor situation) - I can hit the back button to get me right back into the movie or show I was watching, unless it it in my YouTube library, then it forgets my spot and I have to jog it forward again to the place I was watching. However built in sound quality is really quite good, but I have a full Dolby Atmos system that it runs the sound natively through instead through the hdmi audio return channel, using the unit’s CEC control to control my receiver, where it puts out the correct audio output for the source instead mixing it down to a different standard. The google tv operating system is great, even though I prefer Apple, where I am heavily Invested in the Apple device eco system. The Apple TV app is built in, but the sound from Apple is not as great so far, which I will need to investigate further. However I find all the apps from my Apple TV are readily available on the google tv platform so I am not missing much of anything. I highly recommend the his UST projector to anyone looking into purchasing a UST!
