This is a very attractive knife set that works well as a statement piece. Fast shipping, great customer service, and part of the proceeds go to charity. The knives are functional and sharp, but a little light and hollow - not the sturdy weight you would expect. But, everything works well and we thoroughly enjoy them. I am still in love after months of using these. The gold is still in tac, the blades are easily sharpened in the block and they are stunning to look at. My only complaint are that the scissors are not at all sharp. I can sacrifice those for the super sharp knives that slice through steak like butter. ... show more

My first impressions…. These knives truly are stunning and beautiful. The gold sections of these knives is absolutely gorgeous. However, the handles are not a true white color, they are more of a cream color. I attached a picture of my white measuring cup against the handles as a reference. The color of the wood block is gorgeous though and does have a very smooth finish. Overall, on looks, the set is very sleek and pretty to look at. I did notice that two of my knives (chef knife and santoku knife) did have blemishes on the ends of the knives though that are permanent markings. They have a decent weight to them—not super light, but definitely not heavy at all. I do prefer my knives to have a little more weight to them on the handle, so they’re not my favorite. The handles are metal, but seem hollow when you hold them. The gold from the blade and the cream colored handle do seem seamless though. The handles are not the most comfortable at first impression, but I am interested in seeing how they feel when cooking. I do have tendinitis though, so I do prefer ergonomic handles on my knives. The kitchen sheers do have a small area for fingers. I have small fingers but can only fit my pointer and middle finger in the grip, so I don’t think it would be comfortable for chubbier fingers. One of my bigger gripes with the set is that the slots in the wood block for the utility, paring, carving, and serrated bread knives seem to be larger than needed so I do not like that the knives wiggle around so much instead of fitting snuggly and securely. The knives did come with a free 1 year warranty that takes less than a minute to set up. Super simple and quick. I did appreciate this. I was missing the utility knife when I received my order and I did send a message to the email provided, so I hope to get a response (I will update if I do). I have had two knife & block sets from The Pioneer Woman—both cheaper than this set. I have loved my Pioneer Woman knife sets, but felt that they seemed to need to be replaced after a year or two of use. I hope to see a difference with this knife set. However, for the price point, there were a few things that I felt could have been better. Overall, at first impressions though, it seems like a decent set.
