This is a decent angle die grinder. I own a machine shop, and occasionally have to cut a 1" high speed steel endmill to make the shank shorter. There is no better way to accomplish this than with a cutoff wheel on a die grinder. Also, on occasion, I've had to cut 4" square tubing with 1/8" wall thickness. Again, this is the tool of choice. This angle die grinder is a smooth running puppy and rivals the more expensive one that I used to have. I think this Avid die grinder will hold up equally as well as my previous die grinder and for a fraction of the price. This may not be the absolute best angle die grinder you can buy, but for the price it can't be beat. ... show more

    • Good quality, fair price.
I only have the need for a grinder rarely, and mostly only for light duty around the house. I wanted one that was basic and would not be costly, either to buy or to replace if it broke down. This one is basic and it can handle light duty jobs admirably. It reminds me a bit like the kind of tools you might find at Harbor Freight. I could not find an exact match on that retailer's site, but they have one with lower amps at a lower price and one with higher amps at a higher price, so that makes this one's price comparable to what you'll find there. The one thing I like better about this tool is that it doesn't have any of that weird smell that HF tools often have.     • Great budget angle grinder
I'm a huge fan of avid power since I got my first tool from them and it's been a power house. I didn't really need an angle grinder let alone a new one but when this brand was thrown at me I said "Yes please". I've been using this to use my hardwire cloth which has made that job so much easier and faster cause I can staple it on the object then cut easier than measure and tin snip cut. It's built pretty well for a budget angle grinder, it's not the lightest one I've used but it's still a decent weight. For how I'm using it, it grinds well enough and I've been able to smooth points down on the cloth as well. Easy to use, I did have to check the manual... something I don't always do, to make sure I attached the wheel properly because I know what angle grinders can do. Pretty functional but won't well for heavy duty jobs but for around the house it's great. It might be able to do something heavier if you get better wheels but not sure how long the grinder will last if you do that. ... show more

This is a standard angle grinder that comes with a handle, a guard and several discs. It works like every other angle grinder with brushes. Just as noisy, just as powerful. The switch is a bit hard to use, especially with gloves, but it does lock in the ON position if you want. This kind of switch breaks easily, so don’t drop the grinder! I ordered this as a second grinder to use with a wire wheel when welding. Now I don’t need to swap between the wire wheel and the grinder disc. ... show more
