Aveda always has excellent hair products that do what they say they will. The only reason I left off a star is because I think they are a tiny bit pricey. It's worth paying more for good hair and skin products but they could take off a few bucks, which is why I buy here at Amazon. Otherwise I have to say Aveda is one of the better hair products overall. I use this conditioner, which you put on in the shower after shampooing, leave in for a few minutes (while shaving -- saves time) then rinse out. I also use the Smooth Infusion hair glosser, which is great protection especially those of us who blow dry and flat iron. I find it to be among the better ones and I have used many, from Fredrick Fekkai glossing cream, Chi Silk Infusion, Nexxus, Fructis Anti-humidity smoothing milk and Argan Oil of Morocco Penetrating Oil and Kiehl's Silk Groom (creme with silk groom). These are all apples-to apples comparisons as every company usually makes a dozen different products. You don't have to spent a lot necessarily to get a good job from hair and skin products, but I do find the better ones usually do charge more. I like this because if you do put heat on the hair (who doesn't?) you need something to keep that smooth softness and keep it from drying out. What good is having straight hair if it looks fried? Don't get me wrong: the products I listed also are very good, but I think the Aveda is the best amongst them in this category (protecting cream). It doesn't provide hold, so you have to add a different product. The key to getting the best job out of your products is to make sure you towel dry your hair as best as you can, then add enough -- not too much -- and depending on your goal, you may focus on the ends, or the roots or entire head. I put a dollup in my hand, rub it around and grab the ends of my hair, and squeeze it through. If your hair has more curl to it and humidity will ruin your do, then I would try Aveda's anti-humectant pomade brilliant. It is heavier, so a light touch with that and it will go a long way. That is really pricey, but it does last forever, and will do a great job especially in humid weather. A protecter and a product to give you hold is all you need (after a good shampoo and conditioner). I also add Fructis sleek and shine moroccan oil -- just a small amount in my hands to rub through just before I flat iron. Dry your hair well the first go-round. Then, all you should need to do in between shampoos is use your hair dryer briefly like in the morning or just before going out -- if you even need that. I do when the weather is humid. My hair always comes back smooth and shiny and soft. The other products I named are very good, all different prices but Fructis is the biggest bang for your buck. I paid $5 for 3.75 ounces of the moroccan oil and it has hold, and it does a great job for a fabulous price. Can't beat it. But not all in that line is good. Very disappointed with the anti-humidity smoothing milk. Oh well. I have used these for years starting with Aveda pomade, which has been around forever. Nobody paid me or gave me anything free, and most I bought in the salon, not online. At this point I have shoulder-length hair and it is fairly straight on its own, and am blessed with it being thick but that takes a lot of drying with a hot dryer. I have had Kiehl's forever, and they have a wonderful line of creams etc. for hair and skin. I use their avocado creme on my under eyes. The last and probably most important is be careful where you buy these. Some people do sell bootleg products and I think I got a bad Redken shampoo online from Walgreens. I hope they keep that in, people should know. Read reviews and make sure the review is of that seller -- sometimes Amazon puts all reviews under the product, not necessarily who sold it.

Grab it while you can, because the original Aveda Smooth Infusion line is impossible to find now that the formulation is changed for the worse! Two 32.8 oz bottles arrived today and I am elated that they're true to the ingredients listed on the bottle photo, unlike the new formulated shampoo that arrived yesterday from another seller whose photo deceptively claimed it contained the ingredients listed in the original formulation. You'll be lucky to snatch one of the few remaining bottles from this seller - if you hurry!

Initially I wasn't too impressed for the price but then after switching to something a little cheaper that claimed to have the same end result as the Aveda I am convinced. The cheaper brand (but still pricey) was very drying and didn't give any "smooth" effect at all. My hair was so much harder to work with. One night I switched back to my left over Aveda and my hair looked great the next day. Smooth and so much easier to work with. May I expected to look like I just walked out of the salon using Aveda for the first time which is a little ludicrous but after switching to something else I can most definitely now see the great results from this product. Still pricey, hahaha.
