  • My avalanche experience
This roof rake works exactly as advertised. Rather than pulling the snow off my roof with my traditional roof rake which is hard to do and tiresome, this one is easier. You push the rake up and those snow chunks come sliding off. I love this avalanche roof snow remover but it has just one flaw. I wish it reached longer than 17 feet and I did purchase 8 foot extension poles that actually arrived today a little too late for cleaning my roof but in the future will come in handy. ... show more

  • Works great
Awesome product, little cumbersome for my 5’2” 64 yr old self but it does an awesome job. Since we just had a blizzard and 30” it will get another workout soon. Even my neighbor thinks it’s great. It also works over solar panels just fine.

  • Not attached to rod. Just wrapped around it.
UPDATE: we did find a plastic strip on the deck after the snow melted. Apparently it was meant to snap on around the rod to hold the tarp on but popped off with the first use. The duct tape did work and stayed on all winter. Very heavy, but to be expected. The tarp was not fastened to anything, just wrapped around. Worked a few times then came unraveled. No glue, nothing at all to keep it wrapped around the metal. Maybe if the tarp were sown to itself and there was a slot to put the rod into would help. We rigged it by wrapping duct tape to it to keep it from coming off the unit but not sure how long it will last. ... show more

  • Great product, easy to use, huge time saver
This is a game changer in the winter for snow removal on rooftops. I used to use a shovel or snow bucket/scoop and this is so much faster and saves on your back, but definitely gives you an arm workout. Works best when the snow is fresh and free of ice. Ice tore my tarp and was hard to push through naturally. Also, not easy to use on windy days as the tarp part doesn't stay laying flat so snow cannot slide off easily. I was also not able to reach the top of the roof but got majority off (which matters most) before having to go up and shovel off the peak (only if the snow was extremely heavy, otherwise I left it). Overall I would still highly recommend this item and will be using it every winter. ... show more

  • Not good on dense/crusty snow.
The Avalanche tool worked well on powder/dry snow but not good on crusty dense snow. The fiberglass handle cracked when trying to push into the crusty dense snow. This ruined two extension poles.

  • Works great!
Works great, wish I had bought it sooner. I'll also get the extension kit.

  • Very easy and durable.
Fantastic roof rake and the tarp and metal bracket take a beating and keep on sliding the snow off. In upstate NY we have 3-4 feet of snow on the ground every winter. So at age 72 being able to easily romove snow is a must. I was able to remove 1-2 feet of snow with each swipe, from the ground. And the whole house only took an hour. I highly recomend this roof rack. ... show more

  • Might work for fresh powder but forget it for any level of heavy or hardened snow pack
So doesn't really work unless the snow is fresh powder, tried using it to remove snow that had been on the roof for a few weeks and it just wouldn't cut it, the fiberglass poles ended up splitting in extreme cold temperatures so really found this to be more of a gimmick than a useful product.
