  • Does Exactly What it's Supposed to do
Color: KVM over IP
We like using these for our CCTV work for customers. They fly at 4K resolution and the USB passthrough is a game changer. These are much more reasonably priced than HD-BaseT solutions. They work great on existing switches, although they do eat up the whole gigabit pipe so if the data is jumping from switch to switch before it gets to the receiver, you should have a 10Gb or higher switch interconnect. We have not used them with 1080p, just 4K so not sure how much data is used in 1080p, probably a quarter. In other situations we have them directly connected via a single CAT6 or higher ethernet cable. We are not going to bother with CAT5e in 4K situations as we need the wire to be as good as possible. Even though CAT5e is still sufficient for most needs, we want that guarantee. Shielded CAT5e could probably work too though. If there is a lot of interference along the cable pathway we would consider a shielded CAT6 or CAT6a. FYI, there isn't anything feasible beyond CAT6a. CAT7 doesn't actually exists, and CAT8 is an animal designed for rack interconnects in data centers. Don't be fooled. We are on our 3rd unit and can't wait to install more as they satisfy SO MANY requirements. PoE would be nice but since they run off 12 volt, we have some PoE splitters we are going to try. Depending on the amperage they will probably work flawlessly. ... show more

  • Very Impressive IP-KVM Extender
Color: KVM over IP
To start off I think it should be mentioned that this KVM extender does use a substantial amount of bandwidth. For me, I have a gigabit service coming into my house from my ISP so this KVM extender isn't really usable over a gigabit switch (displays are constantly flickering, input not working, etc.) The issue is that these KVM extenders each need almost an entire gigabit worth of bandwidth allocated from the transceiver to the receiver. After connecting all KVM extenders to my 10 gigabit switch everything has been working flawlessly at 1080p 144Hz. If you have having issues with your screens flickering or input not working, try connecting the transceiver and receiver together directly. If the problem goes away then your switch doesn't have enough switching bandwidth to support the KVMs. Most gigabit switches also support 1gbps Tx/Rx on each port at the same time, so if you are running into flickering issues run a dedicated cable from each KVM to your switch. Also if you are connecting switches to switches, the trunk connection will likely have to be 10gbps especially if you are running multiple KVMs. I would also recommend using higher quality ethernet cables with these. I was having issues with a 50 meter flat ethernet cable (supposed to be cat 6) like low frame rate and flickering. I swapped out the cable and its definitely back to 1080p 144Hz. If you want to have your PC in another room or in a server rack in your closet, this is a really really slick setup. If you have been trying to do LAN gaming and you've been disappointed by Parsec and SteamLink, give this a try. ... show more

  • You need to email tech support for updated firmware to allow higher resolutions and refresh rates
Color: 8K HDMI KVM Switch 2 Computers 1 Monitor
This KVM switch works great to switch between my MacBook Pro and a gaming PC to a new Samsung G95SC ultrawide monitor running 5120x1440 @ 240 Hz, but only after updating the firmware on the KVM switch. I initially had trouble getting ultrawide resolutions to output correctly, until I read another reviewer's advice to contact tech support. The manufacturer's (AV Access) product page for this KVM switch (SKU: 8KSW21-KVM) did not have any links to download the firmware, so I emailed their tech support. Bill @ AV Access replied within 24 hours and provided me with the updated firmware file, firmware updating utility, and instructions, which I was able to use to successfully perform the upgrade via the switch's micro-USB port. ... show more

  • Easy to setup
Color: KVM over IP
Easy to setup, simply plug and go. I notice virtually 0 latency on the input. Sometimes it will stutter for a fraction of a second, it's not distracting and doesn't cause problems for me. I use mine for controlling a server on the network, maybe the occasional skip would be more of a problem if you tried to game. ... show more

  • Works flawlessly as a 4K@30Hz KVM
Color: KVM over IP
I have tried numerous KVM extenders that have had numerous issues. These consisted of ones that leveraged fiber optic to dedicated CAT 7. I settled on this version the: 4KIP100-KVM. This one works over IP and is a Sender/Receiver pair that detects its partner based on dip switch settings. The pairing is a one to one pairing. You can not do one to many (for desktop collaboration). The IP version gives you the flexibility to use the Receiver which connects to the Display Output unit anywhere you have a 1Gig+ network ethernet connection. I have used this product at 4K@30Hz for about 4 weeks now, and it works reliably with no issues thus far. It even works with my wireless USB mouse and keyboard. This has been an issue on other extenders, but not this one. This unit does not work with the KVM switch (TESMart) I have. I am not sure if there is a switch this would work with. The purpose of such a setup would be to allow for connecting the transmitter to a KVM Switch and using the Receiver to switch between multiple devices connected to the KVM Switch. It would have been great if this extender did that, but I haven't found one that allows for that capability. Another capability I would like to see is the ability to have a software receiver so that you can use a computer (Linux in my case) as the output device and have the capability to have multiple software Receivers per transmitter. But those functionalities exist only in devices that are several times more expensive than this unit. You can't beat this for the price. ... show more
