Worked with smart TV on YouTube, but once I switched it to the hbo max, disney plus, hulu, or netflix apps, it stopped. I went into the expert settings(in my sound settings on my tv) and saw the option to change "digital output audio format - from Dolby digital, to PCM." Bazinga. Needed to convert optical to 3.5m to hook up to a cheap amp - however no output. Wasted money Edit - someone from their company reached out and said I needed to set my TV audo output to PCM, I did this and it fixed the issue, it is now outputting sound to my amp. That being said, I can't tell if the quality is better or worse than connecting to the amp via Bluetooth, and with this you can't adjust the volume via the TV remote, only the amp, so it was probably a wasted purchase for me personally. This is an easy to set up converter with a simple and compact design. I needed this because my TV only has Optical audio output and wanted to connect my bluetooth headset to it. I have a bluetooth transmitter to enable this connection however, it only takes 3.5mm analog as an input, therefore this little converter did the trick to get the system working. By default, my TV had the optical output set to Dolby Digital, I had to change that setting to PCM and that's all it took to get my headset successfully connected. There are instructions to make such setting adjustment in the user manual. The box comes with a USB power cable however it doesn't include the wall plug, you'd have to use one of your own. ... show more
