This unit works great for my application. I have a LG tv with an optical input and an old Sony receiver with analog out. I can now run the sound from the tv broadcast through my stereo. My old receiver does not have the newer type 5.1 or 7.1 sound output so I can't address if the unit would work with that. I just wanted to play the sound through my speakers for improved sound while watching concerts and it does that. The receiver controls the sound so no problems with volume. I would buy again. Update: Bought this unit Nov 1st and used it maybe 3 or 4 times. It work fine for a while. In Jan 2024 I tried to use it and like other reviewers have stated it started having static and hissing to the point it is unusable. I may try another unit and hope for better results. A lot of people have purchased these and many seem to work.

this is the right product if you have a TV with an optical audio output and you want to listen to the TV audio without making any sound in the room (like someone else is sleeping nearby). You can mute the TV and still hear the TV audio thru this with earbuds / headphones using mini-stereo plug). works well and easy to setup. I was worried a little that it has no volume control for the output but when I plugged my headphones in the audio level was good.

I bought this by mistake. It is by far the cheapest DAC I have ever bought. It arrived quickly and I put it through some tests and comparison. Long story short, it is surprisingly good sounding given the very low price. The sound is delicate, and the sound stage is decent. But it lacks authority, and I don't listen to rock or other bass heavy music. I think it is limited by the power supply; I suspect that a better power supply might correct some of the deficiencies. I was using it in conjunction with a computer via SPFIF connection. No idea how it would work in other environments.

Very simple set-up. Small and inconspicuous. USB power a nice feature as the device can be directly powered from the TV. Keeps out of the way and gets the job done.

I recently bought a new tv and was shocked to find it didn't have a headphone out jack so I bought this box to convert the digital output on the tv to an analog output so I cound use my headphones. It works perfectly and took less than a minute to install

Product arrived in a timely fashion. Had purchased a new TV without analog jacks. Needed to pair the TV with my older receiver. Nice thing about this converter was the ability to use optical connection since I was already using the eArc port for a sound bar. Works as advertised. Has only been installed a few weeks so I can't speak to the longevity of the product, but so far so good.
