I'm working on an old, family house out of state and I spend a couple of months per year there. When I discovered that plant watering systems like this are available, I thought it would be a great way to keep the plants alive without having to ask neighbors to come and water. And I think this system is going to work great. I won't be traveling for several months, but I rigged up a test by pumping water from one bucket into another bucket. I used some tubing scraps I already had to avoid cutting up the roll of tubing that comes with the system. The watering pump in this system is powered through an included USB cable, but you have to provide your own USB power adapter, like a phone adapter. The pump also takes four AA batteries as a backup in case of a power failure. Once I connected the power, I set the timer to start in a couple of minutes, and run for 20 seconds. It worked perfectly. And I also found that the watering duration can be any length of time from 1 to 59 seconds, and 0 to 30 minutes. And the “How Often” function can be set to anything from 1 to 23 hours and 0 to 30 days. That's really versatile! Setting the schedule is very easy. Just rotate the knob first to what time of day to start watering and use the up/down buttons to set the time, then rotate to “How Long” and set it, then rotate to “How Often” and set it. One interesting thing I discovered is that the watering spikes that go into the flower pots aren't hollow. You would think that they are a hollow tube with a hole at the end, but they are instead designed so that the water flows down a channel on the outside of the tube. I took a take a picture showing area where the tube connects with the channel. Perhaps they do that because a hollow tube with a hole would get plugged up by the dirt. Using hydroponics definitely takes the hassle out of growing. It’s very easy to use and set up. I have the tendency of forgetting to water my plants so this comes in handy.

In the winter I tend to forget to water my plants. It also helps when I am not home. It's easy to set up and use. It fits nicely behind my plants.

    • The controller has a shorter learning curve than most and is easier to program than most.
As a hint, put just the end of the tubing in hot water before trying to push it onto the barbs, that works much better. Clear tubing will grow algae, I know this from previous systems. The controller has a shorter learning curve than most and is easier to program than most. I suggest you set this up and put the drippers into a container RATHER than the pot first, so you can observe how much water each is getting. Because of fluid dynamics, some branches will get more water than others and you need to adjust to be sure you do not flood one while not watering another plant. Has a battery backup, if you live in a place with power outages this is a positive addition. The pump cannot be very low and the plants high (you cannot for example, have the pump on the ground and water hanging plants that are 8 ft up. ... show more

This is a great kit. I have been trying to find a way to water my indoor plants regularly. I travel a lot and cannot water them regularly. This is was a great solution. This drip watering kit works great! It is pretty easy to use and setup. It does take a little bit of time to make sure all of the tubing is cut and measured correctly but is not very complicated. This a great option for someone who forgets to water their plants or doesn’t know how much go water. We use them for our indoor plants that have an automatic light. This is perfect solution for my sister who is great with outdoor plants but overwaters indoor plants! It is almost time to bring in all the plants and already my sister is fretting about killing hers off. I took this to her and we set it up in less than 15 minutes. It is super easy! The controls are intuitive and the display is easy to read. We didn't have a pretty clear acrylic water bin like they have in the listing, but any old bucket will work. I think I am going to try to find one, though, because her home is too nice to have a silly bucket sitting in the living room. I have a horrible tendency to forget to water my plants. This irrigation set up has saved me the heartache of having to throw away anymore lovely plants! Setting it all up was pretty easy and seamless and now all I have to do is be sure to keep the water pot full and the system takes care of the rest.
