This works well on my chicken coop door. I use the daylight sensor to open and close it. I did need to set the close light level to 6% because there is a garage light that shines on it at night, which was keeping it open. The original setting is 2%. I have tried a few of these with plastic doors that took AA batteries. They didn't work after a week or so. This one is aluminum, and all the parts are a bit better quality. I also like that it charges from the solar cell. So far it works much better. ... show more

Just got this today. The video showed how easy it was to install. Took less than 15min for me to install and setup. I wish that the solar cable was a bit longer to get into more sunlight. All in all it is a simple design and looks to be constructed well.

The owner's manual is full-computer in plain English (and even have a practice test at the back to verify you understand how it will work!). Packaging is attractive, and looks like something I'd find in a retail store. The adjustable anti-pinch level is nice, however level 1 is so light that it wouldn't even close. I had to set it to level 2. Level 9 is quite powerful. That having been said, it's firmware is a little buggy. If you try to manually close the door while set to light control, it will cost, then immediately reopen because the light is bright. There is no manual-only mode. You can't turn it off, unless you first unplug the solar panel. There is no remote control, so if you want to manually open or close, or change settings, you're going to be crawling in your chicken coop. If you want a fully automatic door (either timer or light level) with no manual option, this door is awesome. If you want manual control, it's not really usable. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This solar rechargeable chicken door also has a USB-A cord for direct charging. Works smoothly and detects chickens so they don't get pinched. The light sensor on front is unique - since different areas have different lighting, the meter determines the light input by percentage. Thus it allows you to set the auto-close funtion based on whichever light percentage exists for your space at each time. For instance, maybe your coop is in the shade and the light sensor only gets to 50% in the morning; you can set it to open when 50% light is achieved and close when light is below this.
