This door was easy to install and works great. Programing it is a breeze. You’ll set the current time and then the time you want the door to open and the time you want the door to close. You can also easily manually close it as well. The door looks nice. It will fit standard sized chickens and guinea fowl. If you have anything bigger (turkeys, pea fowl) you will probably want a bigger door. There are two minor issues I have with this system. 1) it says that it has an anti pinch mechanism. It does, to a point. I tested this out on my hand and found it closed quite hard on my hand. I don’t think it would crush a bird. None of mine have been crushed by it, but it is way harder than I expected it to be. It actually sits down on whatever is blocking it and tries to close for about 5 seconds before it moves back up. Again, I don’t believe it would seriously harm a bird. To be safe, I have it set to close late enough I’m sure all of my birds will already be in the coop. 2) I noticed that when it closes, it actually leaves about a centimeter, maybe less, of space open at the bottom. I've tried adjusting this but every time it closes it closes just slightly short. It's not a huge deal. Just a little odd. You can see the slight gap in the picture. All in all though, this provides a nice layer of security. We use this as a back up to all the other doors and gates protecting our birds at night. We know if we are out later than expected, they'll all be locked up safely in their coop until we can get home to secure the other doors and gates. ... show more

I had to test this out before cutting up and affixing to one of my coops. The door and frame are metal. The housing for the circuitry is plastic. Seems to be a durable door. *cons - - I would have preferred a 12 hour clock vs only a 24 hour clock. But I can work with that. - The safety feature to open the door if it closes on an object still attempts to clamp down 9 times before it brings the door back up partially...then about 8 seconds later it attempts to bring the door down again. It would be better to not attempt to close that many times before opening again. - This is nitpicking but I would have preferred to not have to get a screwdriver out every time I need to change batteries. *pros - - I have several auto doors (I have a lot of chickens) that are about $180 each. Comparing this one to those, I'd prefer this one. I wish I had seen this one before purchasing those. - The interface is easy to use and understand. I'll have to see how it hold up over time and how often I need to change out batteries. ... show more

This chicken door was very easy to install and so far is wiring great. I appreciate the time setting function for opening and closing so that the doors don't open too early in the winter. I also greatly appreciate the override open and close button. The last automatic chicken door I had did not have this feature and was "light sensing" so it didn't always open on cloudy days. I will update later on how long the batteries last, how well the device itself lasts and how it handles our cold winter. So far though this one is much better than our last and was easier to install. ... show more

Recently built a new chicken coop and needed a door that we didn't have to open and close each morning and evening. This was really simple to program with the time to open and close and installing it onto the coop was a breeze. Its big enough for some of our larger chickens to get in and out of with out issue. ... show more

This is a great door. Works as expected and does not trap chickens under it when closing. Would highly recommend this door for people with chickens but it is a little too small for geese

PRODUCT REVIEWED: Relassy Automatic Chicken Coop Door ASIN: B0CCHGL1J8 REVIEWER EXPERIENCE: Career Network Engineer and experienced Livestock (Poultry) Owner PACKOUT: See Photo – Includes main unit, battery compartment door, Hardware Bag (Small Phillips screwdriver, 8 wood screws, 2 small machine screws for battery door), double-side instruction leaflet OVERALL IMPRESSION: Standard Metal sliding door type that operated using center holes and a ratchet mechanism to raise/lower. The Main Unit has a 2”x3” LCD screen with large digits which is easy to see. The programming is entered via touch buttons, it can be set clock-driven open close times or can be manually opened/closed via touch buttons. The unit is described as “IPX4 WATERPROOF’, however, IPX is an international standard (IEC 60529), IPX4 only protects against “Splashing water from any direction, using an oscillating tube or spray nozzle. 10-minute duration”. The unit's open/close action does function accurately when programmed with the local time and an open/close time; manual open-close also functions. There is a small 5mm (about 0.2 in) gap at the bottom that remains open when the door is fully closed. Batteries are not included (3 AAs are required). Safety Issue: (See Attached Video) The door is advertised as using an “anti-pinch sensor” that “can detect obstacles and stop the door from closing, allowing the chicken to move around freely “. When tested, as can be seen in the video, the closing door was pressed against a full roll of toilet paper with significant force enough to indent the roll by .5 Inches and compress the center cardboard. Even more bothersome, the door continued to re-engage the ratchet and re-apply downward pressure for an additional 5 seconds instead of immediately opening. I am not a veterinarian and cannot judge if the downward pressure is enough to cause injury to poultry, but I would opine that the door not releasing for five seconds would cause the trapped animal to panic and injure itself. The included instruction leaflet does say that the five-second delay is part of the operation, so this is not a flawed unit. PROS: Packout was accurate, the Unit seems solidly built, the timer has a larger screen than other units and is easy to view, Timer programmed open/close times operated accurately. CONS: IPX4 rating does not mean waterproof, The listing shows batteries installed in the unit, but none are included, small gap at the bottom when the door is closed, Safety issue with the door obstruction mechanism (see above section): Rating: I am giving the unit three stars as it functionally operates and is constructed well. I am removing two stars for the safety issue as I will not use the unit as it risks injury to my poultry, however, the amount of pressure applied is subjective and other buyers may find it acceptable. If the manufacturer releases a firmware update to fix the safety issue, I would be open to re-test and re-evaluate the unit.
