This was a great replacement for an aging shredder that finally gave up its ghost. Unpacking and setup was very straight forward and took less than ten minutes. The fineness that it sheds at is way better than the previous unit that died. Tested it with CD's and credit cards as well and it performs perfectly. The unit is also very quiet in comparison with others that I have had experience with. Even though it does not specify it in the manual, occasionally feeding it a lubricating sheet will go a long way towards ensuring its longevity and performance. This was an upgrade to replace a much older shredder. Since the older model only cut papers into strips - I wanted to finally get one that cut the paper into smaller confetti like pieces that could not be easily reconstructed. I searched numerous times and finally found this Aurora shredder. In addition to shredding the papers into confetti, this shredder will also shred credit cards and CD Roms. This is going to come in handy when I start to get rid of old useless CD roms. The device runs relatively quietly. While the control switch feels a bit flimsy - I don't expect to need to use it much since it is always set to AUTO so I can walk by - slip in the shreddable material and walk away. Two more great features are - 1) it is on wheels - making it easy to move around on the occasions when that is necessary and 2) the bin is removable allowing easy disposal of the shredded contents. I've had this shredder a little over a month and now it constantly squeaks. I've oiled it and used the oil sheets made for this shredder. It still squeaks. I can't get a replacement or refund because the seller said I'm not within the 30 day return window. It's 38 days. Seriously..... A professional grade shredder should not fail after 38 days of use. So now I'm stuck with a defective machine, waiting for it to quit on me. ... show more

I've had many shredders in the past that just couldn't handle a lot of shredding. This one is a beast. It doesn't overheat and it has a larger capacity container so you don't have to constantly empty!

've been looking for a good cross cut shredder for over a year now. After reading many reviews, I decided to get this Aurora and I'm very happy with the decision. The shreds are truly micro - could be used as confetti, they are so small - no worries about privacy with this shredder! I've given it quite the workout this first week, shredding 10 years of old documents that ran about 100 pages each (don't ask). It ran easily for the half hour at a time I devoted to the work, never jammed once and never overheated. I do wish the bin was a little larger, but it's easy to pull it out and empty it into the larger trash can we have sitting next to it. All in all, for the price, it's a good deal. I hope it lasts as long as our 20 year old straight cut shredder that still works. I'm still amazed at how small the shredded pieces are! ... show more
