  • Good price
Perfect size and works well

  • I love this shredder.
Works so good and a perfect size! This is a fairly quiet shredder. I so love that it is strong enough to shred my old credit cards. Does not heat up when using it. The paper is easily removed from the blades if necessary. I love being able to shred my personal documents. It is also small enough for my RV usage and a great price for this shredder! ... show more

  • Nice little shredder!
Talk about simple! It's ready to go right out of the box. About the size of an oblong gallon milk jug. Controls consist of on, off, and reverse -- simple. Really cuts paper up, which is what I wanted for security reasons, where no one could put back together if they wanted to. UI did a search about how to select a shredder for home use, and it was definitely recommended to buy a CROSSCUT shredder, which this one iks. The base is a thick plastic, and the motor/shredding apparatus fits onto the base snugly (doesn 't snap on--just sits securely down into the base) and lifts off with use of the handle when needed to empty the base. The handle lays neatly recessed into the top when not in use. The 1st day, I shredded a pretty large bag of old bills and receipts. After maybe 8-10 minutes of shredding, it is ready to be emptied (I just empty into a plastic bag), and then right back to shredding, as it never once got overheated. There is function where it cuts off if it does get overheated, but, as I said, this never seemed to be issue. As far as credit cards, I shredded one and it labored a little but got the job done. I don't think I would do this on a regular basis, but then I don't often need this done. It is also OK to shred staples but, here again, I didn't want to tax the machine so I just tore them out when I found them. The shredder seems to work best with 2 pieces of paper--e.g. folding a single piece of paper long side to long side (this makes 2 pieces/thicknesses and a perfect width to fit comfortably into the opening) even though it will take 4 thicknesses. I did put in the 4 thicknesses a few times, and the machine really slowed down & labored -- I can see how doing this over and over may cause overheating. It was just as easy to quickly fold a piece of paper in half as mentioned and stick that through. The shredder comes with a little tool to help dig out any pieces of paper stuck up in the "teeth" which I actually never used because I just used my fingers, being extremely careful not to hold it by the handle and not inadvertently cut it on. With all truthfulness, I didn't test out the little tool the 1st day because I had placed it in one of the side pockets on the base, and when I emptied the 1st shredding, the tool fell out and into the bag of shreds! Yes, it took digging through all the shreds to find it!! Because of this, I would recommend that the manufacturers devise a snap-on area on the outside of the shredder for this little tiny tool, as it just fits loosely in the side pocket and can (and maybe will again) get easily displaced or lost. Since that 1st day, I have used the tool and it works quite well to get little pieces of stray paper that might remain up a little ways in the teeth. Actually, that's not a big problem because when you start shredding again, the paper bits will come on out. Other than the easily-lost tool, I would recommend this shredder to anyone who has mail, old bills, receipts, etc. to shred; it's perfect (and nicely small and compact) for home use. ... show more

  • Amazing little compact shredder! So happy I chose this one! Amazing little compact shredder! So happy I chose this one!
This is a great, small shredder for home use. It only shreds 4 pages at a time so I was considering buying one that could shred 8 or more pages but they are all too big. This one is just the right size so I don't mind only shredding 4 pages at a time bc it works great and doesn't take up much space at all. I've included a photo of it next to one of the medium sized, 32 ounce gatorade bottles so that you can see just how compact it is in comparison. Even though it isn't huge, it holds a lot. I don't have to empty it as often as I thought I would have just by looking at it. I was pleasantly surprised by how much the small basket actually holds. I just shredded a whole shopping bag of old bills and documents to test it out and it didn't overheat at all and got it done super fast! It looks great, I love the clear basket with the little pockets on the side for holding your pens, the tool to clear paper jams that it comes with or anything else that you want to store there. By the way, I haven't had to use the paper jam tool yet and I just shredded a pile of stuff. I'm so glad I went with the more compact, smaller model shredder bc it works just as well as any office shredder that I've used. The only negative is that you have to fold pages vertically before inserting them though bc the paper slot isn't as wide as a standard sheet of paper. That doesn't matter though bc it shreds so quick and efficiently that folding some pages doesn't add much time to the task. If you want a cute, compact, efficient shredder for your home office or for just normal, everyday use then get this one. It's perfect! I will update my review if I run into any issues. ... show more

  • Happy with my little shredder.
I put off buying another paper shredder for a long time, especially since most things are now paperless, and I've put myself on permanent opt-out prescreen a long time ago, save some obnoxiously persistent junk mails. Needless to say, I don't have alot of paper to shred. Still, having to open all these mails and tear them to little pieces every so often, all the while a little annoy and angry, starts to bother me. So I bought a shredder. And I know that I absolutely detest the regular sized ones (weird, I know). So, this tiny shredder is just perfect. Thanks to other reviews, I was aware of the small slot size, and the fact that it takes 2 folded papers at a time, so no surprises there. I tested it right away, and it works great (got no expired credit credit card to shred, so haven't tested that. Saw mixed reviews on those. Also saw markings stated that it should go in the middle of the slot only, not sure if that has anything to do with the negative reviews). Some reviews said that it's not a cross cut. I could be wrong, but I'm quite sure that this IS cross cut, just not confetti small, small enough, and definitely not a long strip cut throughout the length of a paper. Anyhow, I think we should keep our expectations in check. This shredder is perfect for my use case, but it might not be for every one. ... show more

  • Great tabletop shredder
I love this shredder. we wore the first one out. Yes, you can only do two pages at a time even though it says 4. And you have to empty it often because it’s small. But that’s not a problem if you keep up with your mail and bills and only do small bits at a time. I love the size and it works great.

  • First Impression: So far so good.. First Impression: So far so good..
I just received this shredder and I love it for my needs. I have never had a shredder before, but have the occasional personally identifiable item that needs to be destroyed. I used to rip those up manually, which is fine, but doesn't work for more than a few pages and is pretty inaccurate. I am in medicine, and now have on my person, notes about patients when I come home at the end of the day, and would like to destroy these notes without having to take them back to the hospital and use their shredders. This will be perfect for that, with no more than 2 or 3 pages a day + junk mail etc. I prefer the small size because I find the big shredders hideous. This I can hide away and bring out when I need it. I posted some pictures of relative size of the shredder. It has a clear bin which shows if it is full. It turns on, but only operates when paper is fed through the slot. It must be folded along the long axis, otherwise it does not fit. I haven't tried to test the full power of this device because I have no need to, I am not bulk shredding. The resulting pieces are nice and small and only the most diligent of criminal would attempt to reconstruct these papers.. In the manual it states that one should "never shred plastic, continuous forms, anything with adhesive including labels and envelopes, newsprint or any hard materials. while this shredder will shred staples, it is recommended that you remove them whenever possible in order to extend the life of your shredder. only shred credit cards by feeding them vertically within the designated area. never feed more than on credit card at a time." I will update this review as I continue to use this product! ... show more

  • Okay for Space and Price
If your looking for a convenient shredder that isn't a piece of hand-cranked crap and small enough this is it. The downside to this shredder however is that it *is* so small, that the paper have to be folded letter-style to use. For light-use and small document shredder this is alright. Maybe even for some arts and crafts. For long-term use and durability, look elsewhere. This shredder will accumulate paper often which requires cleaning (even when the instructions say NOT too because of obvious hazard reasons, but if it's not cleaned then the papers will stick) Pros: Small enough to fit in tighter spaces. Comes with a paper-opener on the side and two pockets to slip something in. Easy Lift Handle on top. Auto detection, reverse and shut-off/over-heat feature. Cons: JamFest: This shredder can get jammed too easily if your not careful. Because of it's small size the papers will fill up faster. I have lifted the shredder up multiple times, just to find shredded pieces still sticking to the blades underneath. Although the instructions say NOT to clean it, in order to avoid jams I removed some of the papers then let the machine run in reverse mode afterwards to ditch the rest. But I make sure NOT to use my hands at all during the cleaning but use the blade of paper-opener. For safety reasons make sure the machine is turned off and unplugged. The metal teeth are sharp enough that it shouldn't be cleaned with bare hands. CreditJam: Although this shredder advertises to take credit-card, some of the thickness of the cards can get easily jammed in this machine. I've placed one card into the machine and watch it strain itself to chop the single plastic piece down. Not good compared to other shredders that had no problems chopping down cards. This one goes into a near semi-strain like an old man with a back ache. Bucket Overfloweth: Again due to it's small size this shredder will require constantly dumping and reversing(to loosen up paper) to keep it going. So if your someone who has a box-full of documents it will take time to shred it all. Small Opening and Thin Papers: The Aurora opener is designed in a way that forces the consumer to fold their documents in letter-style before inserting them into the machine. Not only do I consider this a tedious waste of time (depending on how many documents must be shred) but also the other fact of the machine's ability to only take thin, 3 piece papers at a time. If paper isn't continuously fed through the machine will automatically shut itself off in auto mode(the only "on" mode available except reverse which is reserved for jams). The Aurora isn't bad for the price, but there are other choppers out there that do the job more efficiently and better. =====Update 12/11/2013===== Be aware although Aurora comes with a warranty the shredder may have a higher potential of burning out. This is in due to the the motor straining to chop up envelopes and the jams that occur. Although my Aurora has not burned out this shredder has a harder time chopping up the average envelope and is noisy while doing so. ... show more
