  • This is a Excellent audio system/ easy setup/well made
Size: 7"
I purchased this Atoto A5L double din 7 inch touch screen system to upgrade my original radio in my 06 Nissan frontier. After reading the reviews this is the one I settled on and an extremely happy I did. The sound quality with basic speakers in my truck is awesome! The touch screen is very responsive and the apps open up immediately with no noticable lag at all, the radio stations come in crisp and clear, Google maps opens up and runs great, Bluetooth is easy to set up and once connected the radio connects to my phone as soon as I turn my vehicle on and the system comes on immediately no hesitation at all. This system also comes with a GPS antenna that works great all the apps open up fast and run great. The installation was very easy and this is the first radio I ever installed, I had to purchase a harness adapter kit so I could connect to my factory harness on my truck but the kit also came with everything I needed for a complete installation, once the harness was connected the radio was just plug and play it really doesn't get any easier than this. The only issue I had was the main screen had the time in military 24hr clock with no way to change to a 12hr clock setup I contacted Atoto support thru email and the next morning they responded with the update I needed to fix this issue with step by step instructions on how to download and install the update it literally took less than 10 minutes to download install and update the system, once the radio restarted the time was automatically set to 12hr clock and I was done. The radio and the customer support is second to none do your self a favor and get one. ... show more

  • Worth it.
Size: 7"
Replacement for 2003 F150, this is a pretty good fit - just a little gap on each side, and a bit too tall for the F150's trim. Had to cut the plastic cross bar on the trim piece, which leaves a little gap visible between bottom of screen and top of A/C-heater control panel. That said, let me concentrate on the stereo itself. This is my 2nd chinese android head unit. 1st is an Eonon in my 325i and - while it work, is pretty quirky: locks up frequently, radio is substandard, sound quality took a lot of tweaking to get up to snuff. SO... I had pretty low expectations. As long as it had reasonable sound, would run Waze Nav, and had basic steering wheel controls, I decided to be happy. Any nav screen is better than none. I was pleasantly surprised by how small this unit is - basically it's a 2-DIN faceplace compared to my 5-yr old Eonon (which, admittedly is larger because it has CD/DVD while this unit doesn't). And, installation was pretty easy. When I booted it up, that's when I got happy :-) Sound quality is *much* better than older Android HU's. Radio reception is very good. EQ allows a lot of customization, but it's sound is good without being tweaked significantly. More important, the unit has been rock solid. Has not locked up, crashed, etc. I hotspot connect to my phone usually, and used this way, Waze and other networked apps have been rock solid. Carplay wasn't of interest to me... until I tried it. It is also rock solid... and I don't have to turn on hotspot. I've changed my normal usage pattern completely: now I run Waze under Carplay, while stereo plays FLACs from 64GB SD card. I've used Google music and some other streaming apps (with and without Carplay), and streaming has been solid also - I just prefer my FLAC's quality sound. For this absurdly low price, this is a no brainer as a way to modernize a pre-nav vehicle. Ok - it's still an Android headunit, and that is by definition a 'hobbyist' platform. You have to get used to how it works, you have to understand how it wants to work, and you can expect some bugs. But, it is clear that the quality of Android HU's has improved in the last 5 years. I've reported a number of bugs, but they are all minor, mainly cosmetic issues (like the main screen doesn't scale up size perfectly). I drop 1/2 point because by default, the font is TOO SMALL. You can change this via accessibility, changing the default fontsize and scaling, but it's clear that this isn't how it was tested originally. With it scaled up to readable size, a number of cosmetic bugs pop up. The other 1/2 pt. off is because the *SEPARATE* steering wheel control is 'quirky'. It works, and is better than no SWC at all, but its analog and sometimes gets lost. I suspect the unit is fine with built-in SWC. OVERALL: Even with some minor quirks, mainly related to SWC and larger fonts, this is a steal at under $120, and a very welcome modernization for an older vehicle. The Atoto's audio quality is SO much better than I expected, and Wired/Wireless Carplay is very useable. ... show more

  • Great upgrade if you want a double DIN Android stereo! Great upgrade if you want a double DIN Android stereo!
Size: 7"
This is a excellent upgrade! Perfect fit, and easy to install and set up. The sound quality is amazing! Auto connect works perfectly, and the graphics and touch screen are as good ans any high end tablet! Brightness is easily adjusted, and is easy to drive with at night! I bought this so I could run Dash command right off the stereo and it works perfectly. I have digital gauges and I can clear codes. I like the USB and micro SD ports right on the front of the unit. ... show more

  • Wonderful Upgrade Wonderful Upgrade
Size: 7"
Recently got this to replace an older atoto version that I had installed about 6 or 7 years ago. Swapping it out was easy and took me only about 20 minutes tops as all the wiring is seamless and matches up. One of the things that stood out to me the most is the wireless android auto feature. It automatically connects without me having to have it plugged in wires and I'll no longer have enough to have echo auto hooked up to give it commands. It fit perfectly as it is the same size as my previous unit. The screen is clear and the sound quality seems better than my last one. This is my 3rd atoto unit and I'm pleased with the longevity and durability of their products. The only con I have experienced is a bit of drop out while playing audio but it's probably some interference I need to clear on my end. Highly recommend this brand. Keep up the good work atoto! ... show more

  • Terrible user experience
Size: 7"
I mean technically it does everything they claim...BUT it is the most unusable car stereo I've ever encountered. This is simply a low cost and very low effort implementation of an android unit, with no thoughts given to actual usability. The UI is so bad it's laughable. For example, tap the Bluetooth music app, search and find a song, it plays... Great right! WRONG... As soon as you back out of that app, to the home screen or any other app, the music stops. Also the physical buttons are terrible to use while driving. They are right at the very edge of the unit so they are jammed right up snug against the dashboard edges. The fonts are tiny. No way to quickly glance for info while driving, the font is so small you really have to squint and find what you're looking for. I found a setting for the font size, sounds like a good solution! WRONG. It does increase font sizes, but nothing else changes so you end up with garbled and cut off text. It also has the silliest Bluetooth pairing... It wants so badly to latch onto the previously paired device... My wife was sitting in the vehicle with the radio OFF, and when I came outside and it starts automatically playing the metal I had been listening to earlier and blasted her ears out. It turned itself back on and latched onto my phone. Crazy stuff. I guess the designer thought that would be a good thing, not really sure why. I could go on, but this thing is not worth the price of the box they ship it in. Would certainly return it if it wasn't too late. Unfortunately it took me a while to get it installed and then I kept thinking all these maybe were just user error on my part, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt. No, it's just terrible. I find it mind boggling that some engineer looked at it and said "yep that's good, ship it". ... show more

  • Way more impressed than I was expecting. Way more impressed than I was expecting.
Size: 7"
I wanted to breathe some new life into my older car and took a chance on this unit. I had low expectations but was very pleasantly surprised. The installation for me was a simple one. It was pretty much power and speakers. I didn't need a reverse cam and the GPS wasn't needed since I was using android auto. The only install quirks I had were the screw holes not lining up with the bracket from my metra kit. Easy enough to fix by drilling the holes I needed. The other was the face of the unit being slightly larger than standard so I couldn't get the metra cover piece in which leaves a slight gap. The sound quality was much better than I was expecting. It made my factory speakers sound as good as they were going to get. For a unit that's only a couple inches thick I didn't expect it to have such a good output. I found the city EQ setting to be the most well rounded. The android auto makes life so much easier. It does take a good 15-20 seconds to connect when you first start the car but at least it's automatic so you'll be good to go by that time you're out of the driveway. I enjoyed the way the screen splits maps, what I'm listening to, and notifications. I was also very impressed with how crisp and responsive the display was for what I paid. Overall this unit gives an amazing bang for the buck. ... show more

  • Mehh
Size: 7"
Good baseline radio. Android Auto is super super glitchy and slow. Constantly disconnects and reconnects, doesnt let you easily use other apps on the radio if connected to Android Auto. Phony aux Jack. Does absolutely nothing. Sub par dsp, has one, but it kinda sucks. And no auto dim with headlight wire, just changes maps to black, does nothing with the screen brightness. Definitely would not buy again. But if you never connect your phone to the Android Auto I'd give it 3 stars just cause the radio app is pretty sweet. But I have fm radio on my phone.. so not hard. ... show more

  • Installation and setup may be difficult Installation and setup may be difficult
Size: 7"
This is my third ATOTO head unit. The last two worked well until I sold the vehicle. I chose ATOTO because it was reasonably priced and offered wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. There was no other option at this price. The finished product looks good and sounds good, but if you're going to choose ATOTO, you must be familiar with how it works. It is an Android tablet that is shaped and adapted to work in a car. Functions such as a radio are an app rather being the sole function of the unit. It can be temperamental, but once set up, it works well and has some interesting features. One is the Torque app that when linked to an OBD2 adapter can link to onboard diagnostics and provide information on your vehicle's overall health and any trouble codes. Also, it can handle a back up camera and even a dash cam. If you have an amp, it is compatible with that as well. It also has a TPMS option but you must purchase a kit for that separately. Many apps from Google Play are compatible making the ATOTO stand out among competitors. Installation and setup, however, can be tricky. It fits perfectly into a double DIN opening, but that's the easy part. I installed the Axxess AXSWC Steering Wheel Control Interface to retain steering wheel controls on my 2004 Buick Lesabre. This required a contact with tech support from Axxess because the interface does not automatically detect an ATOTO head unit. It appears that it would have automatically detected a more mainstream brand, but not ATOTO. The solution was to tell the AXXESS interface that it was linking to a Pioneer head unit which was quick and easy. I had to program each steering wheel button to perform specific functions since it is not automatically detected. This was easy enough, but the directions were not clear. I also learned that the 3.5mm jack intended for steering wheel controls on the ATOTO doesn't work and that it was necessary to wire the AXXESS interface directly to the wiring harness supplied with the head unit. This was easy enough, but I only figured this out after a lot of googling. The end result is that the steering wheel controls now work, but it was not plug and play. I'm sure a professional could have done in a few hours what took me much longer. My first two ATOTO head units worked right out of the box, but this one had no sound. I contacted Amazon and they attempted to troubleshoot but that didn't work and they referred me directly to ATOTO. ATOTO was responsive and sent me a replacement in 3 days. The replacement worked perfectly and the installation is complete. I am pleased with the final product, but if I knew then what I know now, I might have chosen something else. ... show more
