  • Outstanding connectivity.

The Asus Zen Wifi AX Mini (XD5) system is ridiculously small, offers excellent, excellent coverage/speed, and it is very configurable with an interface that is easy to use and understand. However, one of its most important features is its ability to connect to VPN services such as ExpressVPN seamlessly. This is one of only a handful of mesh systems that will connect to a VPN service!!! Also, the Asus software allows you to configure multiple VPN services at the same time, AND send individual devices on your network to whichever VPN you want. A really nice feature! If you were considering a Aircove router this is certainly a better option if you need the coverage area. ... show more

  • First Mesh System, No Complaints
Style: AX3000 | Dual-Band | 3Pks | White
Having set up many routers over the years, I had low expectations for mesh routers based on my experience with wi-fi extenders (worthless and finicky) despite knowing that mesh routers were far superior from reading reviews. I looked at a few mesh systems and read reviews from a number of tech review sites before deciding on this system. My use case is a ~3400sqft 3 story home, 300mbps internet, smart home devices (switches, plugs, etc), and I generally do not need to worry about more advanced router settings. Pros: - Incredibly easy set up but does require the Asus Router app - Strong connection between nodes, only the main one is connected via Ethernet - Even coverage. I get nearly the same speeds (+/- roughly 20mbps) on every floor - Combined 2.4/5Ghz bands work great, makes smart home setup easy - Small unobtrusive nodes Cons: - Only 1 LAN port on the router and nodes. Not a big deal for me as I have extra network switches Overall this system is perfect for me and I couldn't be happier with how it has worked so far. ... show more

  • This is what you need! Almost perfect!
Style: AX1800 | Dual-Band | 3Pks | White
I purchased this because our house has a lot of walls and turns and performed beautifully. It was super easy to install and works very quickly. Probably the best wifi signal and internet speeds I've seen compared to what the internet company gives me. The only downside to this system is that most of the nodes only have one LAN port and some of my devices perform better on a hard line due to some legacy issues. For example, my main node is next to my FIre TV, the fire TV refused to connect to this via wifi so it didn't work until I connected it to via a hard line, all fine and dandy- but the PS4 also works more reliably with a hard line. Aside from the previous noted issue, there was a small hiccup regarding firmware updates. Putting one of the nodes, literally on top of the main resolved the issue. Pro tip: set about 3 hours aside to install the unit and to change your devices WIFI preferences. Expect to have some issues here and there, but it should work out fairly well. ... show more

  • Extremely Easy To Install and Works Very Well
Style: AX3000 | Dual-Band | 3Pks | White
I was a bit skeptical on the ease of installing these... If you have an Asus Modem, all you do is plug them in and the app takes care of the rest. Extremely easy! I live in a 2,200 sqf house and 3 does the trick. I have full internet speed all around my home. Would recommend!

  • Plug and Play
Style: AX1800 | Dual-Band | 3Pks | White
30 year IT pro here. I deeply researched options before buying this and am very satisfied. I upgraded from a 5 year old TP-Link Router and Extender setup that was getting flakey and never really adequate for our 3200 Sq Ft home and 40+ connected devices (cameras, smart plugs, phones, computers, thermostat, etc...). Got this one because our internet is through T-Mobile wireless home internet and tops out at about 150MB so this speed (AX1800) is more than adequate. The router and two mesh points are across the house, maybe 25-30 feet apart through a couple of walls (wood frame and drywall - my house is not wired so all backhaul is wireless) across two stories and performance has been better than I expected. I was concerned about these being dual-band vs tri-band but I have to say for my use case (relatively average internet speed and wireless backhaul) it is working extremely well with no special customizing or fiddling with. It was essentially plug and play. I have had some experience using ASUS products both personally and professionally, those have always has been good. They have a techy reputation but their support (I needed it for registration) and setup is top-notch and suitable for beginners too. Long story short, the router works great, I like that it has both web and app access (both are slightly buggy but no worse than others I've seen and better than most - the ONLY issues I've run into was weirdness with assigning icons to devices on the network, pretty much a non-issue really). I was considering Eeros, Netgear, Tenda, and TP-Link products too but choose the ASUS because you are not prompted for subscriptions or have limited config options that the other brands have. Recommended! ... show more
