  • Great companion router for the price. Renewed item was in great condition.
Style: WiFi 6 AX1800 | 2x2
Bought this router with 3 objectives in mind: * It needed to be an affordable Wifi 6 router * It needed to support the ASUS Merlin firmware * In needed to support ASUS AiMesh This renewed router checked all those requirements perfectly. I added this router to the other end of my residence, to increase signal coverage. Item arrived in a plain box, well-padded and in great condition. Was up an running in minutes. I saw some of the comments that the router does not support MU-MIMO. This is incorrect. The router does support it, quite well. ... show more

  • WireGuard VPN Server 300Mbps
Style: WiFi 6 AX2700 | 3x3 | White
I bought this RT-AX68U to replace my aged RT-AC66U B1. As the new CPU is the same as RT-AX86S, the WireGuard VPN Server was able to achieve 300Mbps, up from my old OpenVPN Server of 30Mbps. The router also pairs seamlessly with my 2 AiMesh nodes (ASUS XD4). While the AX 5GHz performance is up to my expectations, the 2.4Ghz performance with n/ac legacy devices was subpar. ... show more

  • AiMesh works! So easy to install, I should have done this years ago
Style: WiFi 6 AX1800 | 2x2
I just got a higher level Asus router to replace my 3 month old Linksys (don't get me started on that piece of trash). I was impressed how well it worked and made the decision to get another Asus router and try setting up a mesh network. I have three separate routers to cover my property. As I moved around, I would have to manually switch between the routers. Having a mesh network would resolve this problem. Looking at a number of online reviews and a bunch of YT vids, I settled on this unit. A few vids, including the Asus ones, showed quite a few steps to set up the Mesh network. It was way easier in actual practice. Maybe they upgraded the system. I connected the router to my computer using an ethernet cable and connected the cable modem. Called up the configuration screen. It asked me if I wanted to set it up as a mesh node or a router. Chose node. Then it told me to hook the computer back to the main router and leave this one powered up and close to it. After the main router powered back up, I logged into that config screen and clicked on the AiMesh Node button. Then I clicked on the Find AiMesh node button. After a short wait, it detected the new router and asked if I wanted to use it as a mesh node. Yep. Short pause then it said it needed a firmware update. Clicked on Administration -> Firmware Update tab -> Check for update. Told it up update the node. Let it do its thing. Router (now node) power cycled. Back to AiMesh screen, told it yes I wanted the detected device to be a node. Waited a bit. Then that was it. The only hiccup was that my device wouldn't switch until the signal dropped below -70 dBm. Still a "good" signal per my WiFi signal strength app, but really bad when trying to transfer data. From a YT video (search for "Behfor") I adjusted the threshold to -60 dBm. Wireless button within the Advanced Settings section. Professional tab. Scroll down to the Roaming Assistant line. Enable and change the number in the "Disconnect clients with RSSI lower than :" from -70 dBm to -60 dBm. Apply. Wonderful. I can move around and my phone moves from node to router and back transparently. There is a little delay when it switches radios, but streaming music doesn't stop playback. Totally happy with my Asus routers! The Linksys it still under warranty, so I'll try and get them to fix/replace it. But even if I do get it fixed, I'm selling it off. Asus is so much better. ... show more

  • So far so good
Style: WiFi 6 AX2700 | 3x3 | White
We are getting much faster speeds and better Wifi coverage with this new router. Setup was relatively easy (I am not a computer savvy person). So far I’m happy with it’s performance.

  • A very well made product
Style: WiFi 6 AX2700 | 3x3
Overall a premium-looking product, looks great in my living room, minimalist and non intrusive LEDs and works seamlessly. Would have given it a five star but for the very poor technical support. I couldn't get it to connect to my AiMesh network with the wireless option after several resets and updates of the firmware. I was almost tearing out my hair and getting very grumpy with my kids trawling through the web for a solution. Luckily (before any damage was done to myself or the router :), I came across a video on Youtube that had a workaround that worked like a charm. I simply connected an ethernet cable from a LAN port on the AiMesh router to the WAN port of the AiMesh node and voila! I will staying with ASUS routers for a very long while, simply for their AiMesh technology. ... show more

  • Easy install as a mesh router to extend our network
Style: WiFi 6 AX2700 | 3x3
We have an Asus RT-AC88U, which is a slightly older router. It wasn't reaching quite as far as we wanted. So we bought this new one because we like Asus routers, because it claims to be easy to install as a mesh node, and because it supports Wifi 6. Note that we're using it as a mesh node, not as an extender, if only because an extender creates a new hot spot with its own name, whereas a mesh node simply enlarges the range of the existing router. It was dead easy to install it. It increases the bandwidth of the signal upstairs (our main router is downstairs), and we don't have to switch from one SSID to another as we move around the house. At some point we could run an ethernet cable from the downstairs main router to the upstairs RT-AX68U, in which case the signal would be even stronger. But what we have now is easily good enough: a strong, steady signal and lots of bandwidth (300+mbps). It was as little more expensive than other mesh options, but ease of installation mattered a lot to me having spent too long fussing with settings I generally don't understand when trying to install another mesh router. ... show more

  • Gold Standard for Meshnet Wifi Networks
Style: WiFi 6 AX2700 | 3x3
I use this in tandem with another, different model ASUS wifi router, utilizing their AI-Mesh system. It works as advertised, it extends my WiFi significantly without incurring speed taxes due to multiple LAN hops to hit the internet. By itself it's also a fine router, great range, dual band wifi, a simple form factor so it can be hidden easily. Additionally it comes with ASUS's own flavor of DD-WRT which is neat, lots of great features, ignoring ASUS's cloud features which are riddled with security flaws (make sure to disable all of them). 4 physical Ethernet ports on the rear, which is standard for ASUS routers, and dual WAN aggregation for those who need or want dual ISPs for extra speed. ... show more
