Update: Purchased in 2019 and its still running strong and qualified for Windows 11 and has been upgraded and running great. I have only had it a few days but really do like it. There are a couple of cons but not enough to doc it a star. It is plenty fast for me and what I do. As a retired photographer I was interested in the screen and the option to ad a second drive. The selling point was that it had a SSD drive vs the Intel Optain which seemed to be in most of the others that I looked at. I like only software/Apps on the SSD C drive while putting my data and photographs on a separate drive and the Optain does not allow that. I purchased a 1 TB SSD and was really pleased how easy it was to install. The computer Emanual is actually very good giving information on removing the back even enclosing the screws to install the drive. Now for the cons I found it almost unbelievable that there is no SD drive slot. It would be nice to to have at least one more USB port or a USB-C port. Not a big deal but the speakers are terrible, not that one expects much anyway from built in ones but I was surprised how bad they were. M Kindle HD and Lenovo tablet are better and louder. I waited to write a review on this so I could really get a feel for how the laptop works. I really really love this laptop! It doesn't freeze up on me, it runs smoothly, starts up quickly and the battery lasts a pretty long time, even if you're gaming on it. It's thin so carrying it isn't a big hassle, and it overall is very aesthetically pleasing. Decent laptop, light and relatively sturdy. I got it to do light video editing, and my 2012 Lenovo was not cutting it.. lol Has a few quirks.. like randomly selects a different window without my even touching the machine at all.. trackpad is stupidly sensitive, even on lowest setting.. gets triggered accidentally sometimes or will click/drag/select without intention. Keyboard is very nice, the action and response is good. Though I wish the backlight had more than L,M,H,off as choices. Screen/hinge is a bit torquey. Have to be gentle opening it. Sound is good for a 'cheap' machine. 4 speakers is nice. Only having a small bank of ports on one side will be a bit of a production challenge, but not insurmountable. USB ports are REALLY tight.. afraid of breaking something.. Fans- as others have noted- are not silent, but the sound is not distracting. Mostly just air moving no real Whine to speak of, so I can ignore it. Will post about horrendous shipping in the shipping review area. ... show more

I love playing the Sims 4. However, my old laptop could not handle it. This laptop handles the Sims 4 and all of it's expansions and stuff packs without issue. It does get warm so make sure you have a cooling pad or something. I can testify to the battery life because we were in the airport and I had not completely pushed the plug into the socket. I didn't even notice that the laptop was on battery until I was shutting down. ... show more

I bought this October 2019, works great for playing World of Warcraft and Star Wars. I can play World of Warcraft with all the graphic settings on high with no visible lag. Today, April 17, 2020 I started to hear a crunching noise from inside the computer and when I opened the back panel. The one fan had obliterated itself. I've requested Return Mail Authorization from Asus. We shall see how it goes. I will post, again on how the warranty service process goes. ... show more

We got this as a graduation gift for my son. As a result, he does not answer his phone, respond to human voice commands, or tend to his personal hygiene. We are hoping he moves out soon - the smell is becoming overpowering. On this model, the keyboard lights up red, which means he can stay up until all hours of the night doing Lord-only-knows-what. This is nice because then he sleeps until 2pm, thus reducing human interaction further. This may have replaced one or two of his friends. When I first got it this laptop was about $700 and worked perfectly. I’ve had it for a while now and I’m having issues. A few months in the back left corner started cracking. I hold onto the base of it when I open the laptop to not make it worse. This morning I open it and the laptop is on but the display was glitched over in the bottom left corner until the screen went completely black. I bought this laptop in January 2021. It hasn’t even been two years and I checked reviews and I’m not the only one with the bottom cracking and now this laptop is nearly $1k. This is ridiculous. I now have to pay out of pocket to see if this thing can be salvaged or buy a whole new laptop and I sure as heck ain’t buying this one again. I bought this laptop mainly for school and to play games with my boyfriend and so far it been really great! In addition, some of my instructors just give us the scanned copies of the assignments on iLearn and the touch screen ability with the Wacom pen is really useful for taking a full screen snip and writing on it using the "whiteboard" app. I've had no problems with it so far and doubt that I'll have any anytime soon. There are only 2 usb ports which I've only found an issue with once, but I am glad that it has an hdmi port as well, SD card slot, and one for the jack. There is also another one that looks like a type c charge, but I don't know what its for and haven't needed it so its not that important for me. Most of the ports are on the right side and I'd personally prefer them on the left, but they're not that bothersome. I also love the fingerprint feature on this thing! It can also flip all the way back and be used in tablet mode, there is even a Microsoft store to install things that you would normally have on a tablet. I personally use it for doodling or playing games like gardenscapes. This thing has a bunch of storage too, I've transferred so many pictures, and there is still so much more! ... show more
