Great router, set up was crazy easy. I got two of these to set up a mesh network in my house and the whole process took me maybe 15 minutes. The dedicated iot network is great, the guest network setup was a breeze, and the MU MIMO and WiFi 7 capabilities took my home network from slow to woah. This was my first ASUS router experience and it blows the doors off my tired old Netgear router. The app functionally is super user friendly as well, makes it easy to run the whole thing from your phone and adjust QOS and everything.     • Great choice for a fast router
Size: Dual-Band Style: 6.5 Gbps | 2.5G Port
If your needs are fairly simple and you want a fast, capable, powerful, but relatively standard router, this is a great choice. I needed to replace a failing RT-AC68U, and this did the trick, with a little boost to Wi-Fi 6 device speeds as well over Wi-Fi 5. It's also ready for the future of Wi-Fi 7 devices whenever I end up with one of those. It covers my 1600sq.ft. cube-shaped house, most of my yard, and my basement pretty well except for one corner of the basement that's surrounded by concrete and would almost certainly require another AP in a mesh configuration to cover fully. I have used probably 5% of the features of this router, but the bandwidth logging actually works unlike the RT-AC68U, and there are some additional improvements in the interface for creating various segmented networks, easier ways to select your DNS provider (although I went with Quad-1 which is Cloudflare and isn't on the list, so it's a manual entry like most other routers), and some other tweaks that take what was already a great router line and make it better. If you want a standard router integrated with a switch and Wi-Fi, this is a great choice that's very affordably priced. I haven't tried ASUS's AiMesh, but if you have wired backhaul and need multiple APs, it might be worth a shot, as this router has a lot more options than mesh systems like Eero, but is a lot cheaper and simpler than going with a full Ubiquiti type setup. ... show more

Bought this to replace my old Netgear router that Netgear was no longer putting updates out for. This is my first experience going to Asus hardware like this. I'm very impressed and the Wi-Fi 7 is super fast I actually bought some other Asus routers to be able to use as mesh nodes in both my garage and my shop.     • No Mounting Holes

It works good. I like it. It puts a strong signal throughout the house main floor and the downstairs office and family room have good coverage as well, with strong signal strength in both 2.4 and 5 bands. I was disappointed that this router does not have any mounting holes in the bottom for wall mounting. The previous router was wall mounted and this one cannot be so I had to run network cables in the walls and floor to change the location and provide a horizontal surface for it to sit on. Setup documentation consists basically of turn it on and follow the prompts. After initial setup my devices showed the network and a very strong signal but nothing would connect no matter what I tried doing on the device or in the router settings. I don't know what caused it but I reset the router and went through the setup again and everything connected automatically including Alexa devices and smart plugs and smart switches. While I was in the admin app I noticed that the firmware version updated itself. I checked on the product page on the Asus website and verified that it is the latest. So that's good I know its all updated to the latest. Previously I had 2x of NetGear R6400 AC1600 routers with second one configured as an access point. To get that one to work again I had to reset it and then go through the NetGear Genie and it configured itself automatically as an Access Point again with the correct IP and it seems to be working good with this new Asus RT-BE82U. Make sure you use the same network SSID and Password as the old router when you set this up. If you change those, all of your smart devices, TV's, game systems, etc. will have to be setup with the new info before they will work again. ... show more

Haven't had a problem out of it. It was a little bit spotty at first, but once it got connected and going, it has been solid ever since we have 25 devices hooked up to it not all at the same time, of course, but all are connected whenever needed.

My 2025 Netgear Router was killed by Lightning via cable modem & their upstream Router. It was purchased for $125, it is now $250 - ..... I initially replaced it with a Netgear $130 V7 RS90, but it was 1/5 the wifi speed of my older V6 Netgear router. I returned i t and purchased this ASUS RT-BE82U for $159. Wifi speed is back to what I used to have. Setup is straightforward, but be aware NO pre ASSIGNED ID & Pwd. Everything is done in the setup. Less than 2 minutes start to finish.
