I should've switched from linksys years ago. The setup is quite easy as long as you follow the steps within the app. It took me a little longer; however, because I had to manually enter all of the wifi mac filter settings, as linksys does NOT have a clean way to export data. The router is extremely fast and very efficient. About 99% of the router functionality can be managed via the Android app. Very seldom did I need to go into the web interface to make any changes. The 5Ghz network does take a little longer to come up, than the 2.4Ghz when applying changes to either WiFi network. Overall, this is the best WiFi router I've ever owned!!! ... show more

About average to setup. Used both the Web Interface, and later, the ASUS app. Both work great with this router, but NOT with earlier ASUS AX routers. Great coverage in my @1800 Sq Ft Rancher. It is placed at one end of the house and gets at least a Medium Strength (grreat connect Icon too) to my devices at the Far end! All types of devices connect rapidly and get a Great Connection ICON (on the App). All Antennas are dead vertical, as is recommended for a single story, but since it's on the Top Shelf of my Built-In bookshelf, I put two 1/2 inch Silicon Squares (Stick) to the BACK BOTTOM of the router so that it points slightly downward (also Recommended to aim the Lobes to connection height of devices. The speed is about 15% higher than with my older Wifi6 (AX) Router. Overall, a great purchase and upgrade without paying for a WiFi7, 6GHz BAND (BE) router--that I can't connect with anyway since I have no 6Ghz devices. . . ... show more

Wow.. ASUS let me down. Unit is a failure. Won't connect to the internet while 2 older ASUS units are working fine. Connection light is red, setup application says failure, phone wifi says failure. Factory reset twice means it won't connect to the setup app on the phone any longer. Phone doesn't recognize it, but the diagnostics on the phone application says everything is good. ASUS, you lost a long long long time customer, from the 1990s when i used your motherboards in my home builds. ... show more

I am really liking this router from Asus. The setup was a breeze and the firmware update was easy. The stability is great not one out of disconnect like my TPlink router. My Internet speeds picked way up after switching my TPlink router. The coverage is great. The value is great. I was able to wirelessly connect with no problems. 4 stars due to issues linking with older FEIT wall dimmer. I like that the coverage in the house is Much better that the older netgear R7800 it's replacing. Set-up was fairly easy for creating a main wireless channel, another for the IOT devices and another for guest access. The older FEIT wall dimmer wanted only 2GHz channel, and the IOT channel won't let you turn off the 5GHZ, so I haven't figured out how to connect them, yet... This router combines the two bands, letting the best band win when connecting to a device. This device should work for most folks right out of the box. So far it appears to be stable although you may need to reboot it a couple times to have the router automatically find a less busy channel within the 2GHz and 5GHz bands, if there are a lot of WiFi routers in your area. Using Openspeed test on my internal network, I was seeing speed tests close to the WiFi nic max speed (870Mbps) in the computer and iPhones. Wired tests were similar. ... show more

Buy Buy Buy!!!! This is the router that you need, the coverage area seems to be working really well, setup was easy and I'm able to setup rules and profiles for each device to limit what they can and can't do. I can monitor remotely and it comes with a app (I'm still learning) but seems to be a great router. I haven't used or setup the AiMesh but based on what I've seen that will be simple. The only complaint is there isn't away to mount this to a wall so I had to get creative since I don't have anywhere else to put it. ... show more

Bought the RT-BE82U as a replacement for a 6+ year old Netgear Wireless Router. The feature set is awesome. The lifetime Attack Signature Subscription is a good deal. I have all the protections with the exception of the URL protection and it has not impacted the speed of the internet connection in a detectable way. My disappointment is with the signal strength. I replaced my RT-BE56U with a TP-Link unit and it was a disaster. There are features on these Asus routers that are standard across the entire line of products that other products in its price range can't do, like restricting inbound traffic by source address. I also have a static route programmed to send a single /24 through a VPN router. Being able to do big boy things for such a low price is great! I noticed a significant difference in the speed of the WiFi between this and the model just below it. The main reason I ordered this is that I recently upgraded to 2GB speed from my ISP and I needed the 2.5G Ethernet switch ports. Running speed tests over 1700mbps is just silly to me.
