I don't usually leave reviews but this one earned it. I liked my first GX10 enough that I went back and bought a second to pair with it, and honestly no regrets at all. The thing that surprised me most was the heat, or lack of it. Under a sustained load it gets slightly warm to the touch, which is fine, but it never gets hot and I've never seen it throttle or overheat once. For a box this small doing this much, that's pretty impressive. Performance is where it really shines though. I'm running Qwen 3.6 35B at FP8 and getting a steady 80 tokens a second, which is plenty fast for actual interactive use. It'll even load and run MiniMax at around 19 t/s. A model that big running locally on something that fits on my desk still kind of blows my mind. Setup was easy too. Got Tailscale going in a few minutes and now I've got my own private AI cloud I can hit from anywhere with internet. No open ports, no monthly cloud bill, nothing leaving my own hardware. If you care about keeping your stuff private that part alone is worth it. If you want a local AI machine that runs cool, runs fast and just works, this is the one. My review is in response to the package received, not the Asus Ascent GX10. Like the other reviewer, my unit had all seals broken, both the outer box and the actual product box shipped by Asus. Very concerning, especially for a unit purchased new for over $5K! Update: I was not happy with the fact the computer was clearly a return. However, I fired it up and everything was in good working order. If you are looking for blazing performance with very large models (70B+), this is NOT your computer. It will work but will be in <10 tokens/second. However, using llama.cpp and Gemma 4 26B a4b MOE, it cruises at 50 tokens/second. It can also keep multiple models loaded in memory simultaneously. I am using it as a 24/7/365 AI server for my other computers. I would have given it a 5/5 had it not been that it was a return. ... show more
