This makes a fantastic gift! My sister gave my son one that her kid outgrew. It was bigger and the magnet wasn’t as strong so the head/helmet was super annoying to put on. Also it was a standing astronaut, so it was annoying to make it stand every night. I saw this one, it was advertised on sale under haul deals, it wouldn’t discount it though for the$2 as advertised but it’s whatever. I bought the the where he is holding a guitar. It is sooo much better than the other standing model we have. This one is compact so takes less space, it has a way stronger magnet for the head/helmet, it is sturdier because it’s sitting instead of standing on two feet, it has a functional awesome remote, and it has more color options and patterns than our other one. Lasted about a year and a half. It did take a couple falls. The lights were really cool, my kids loved it. It slowly started dying and tonight it finally wouldn't turn on. Was hoping to get a little more life out of it but can't complain too much, it was well used.

I had an older version of this one. Same exact one. Lasted two years or more. I got two, one for each kids room. My nieces works. Mine doesn't. I had to return it and get a replacement. The replacement doesn't spin either. It's supposed to spin to show the Galaxy. It spins sometimes and randomly stops. The new remotes don't have the timer. Just on and off buttons. I would like to set a timer to shut it off after a certain amount of time. It's like the new ones are cheaply made. It is a very bright light. It doesn't work properly. I would of suggested the old one but not the new ones they're shipping out. I love the little astronaut, it's cute. But only if it worked. The one I got and the replacement don't work. ... show more

The projection of the stars covers a large surface. The buttons on the projector itself allow for easy on/off, but the remote allows you to pick a variety of options for colors. We use this every night as a night light and it is perfect.
