These knives work very well. They are sharp and the many sizes allow you to neatly pare fruits and practically 'filet' vegetables, adding ease in to food preparation and inviting creativity. Handles are comfortable to hold, made of a wood-look plastic. Blades are 'high-carbon stainless steel' which is said to be harder than regular stainless steel. The ceramic coating on the blades should in theory make the knives easier to maintain and add a layer of protection against corrosion. On the other hand, I read that due to brittleness, ceramic coated knives are best used for slicing and fine cutting tasks (rather than chopping bones or cutting frozen foods), and sharpening a knife with a ceramic coating requires a high level of skill and precision. These knives aren't as sharp as a fancy carbon steel chef's knife which can easily cost over $100. But they currently get the job done well at an affordable price.

For the current price of apx. $15.00 after getting $5 off with a coupon for this Astercook Knife Set, 13 Pieces Kitchen Knives Set with Ceramic Coating, Stainless Steel Chef Knife Set, I don't think you can really go wrong. These are attractive knives. They are lightweight, ceramic coated knives and come with matching scissors. These are a type of knife which I have never used before and I like the fact that they are quite unique. And they are sharp. And they fit well in the hand. This knife set is large enough that there should be a knife for almost all purposes one might need a knife for. Overall, I feel that these knives with sheaths and scissors are a pretty darn good deal and are worthy of my recommendation. I think they would make a great starter set for someone too and I am very happy to have them in my kitchen drawer.

This Astercook knife set is visually appealing, and I appreciate the white ceramic coating. The wooden handles add a nice touch. It's a fairly basic set, and the knives aren't razor sharp out of the box and I really do not know how they would hold up to sharpening being that the are "ceramic" or have that white coating on them. However, for the price, they're decent. I especially like the fact that this set comes with blade guards, making it perfect for camping or storing safely in a drawer. If you're looking for a stylish, affordable set for everyday use (or occasional outdoor adventures), this could be a good option. Just don't expect professional-grade sharpness. But for the current price of under $20, I will give it 5 stars because of its value.

I started a new job in a second city and now have a home and an apartment to live in during different parts of the year. I only had scattered odd knives besides one good set at home, so I ordered these, so I would have a separate set in my apartment. I am SO impressed with these knives!! The are very attractive, and the number of knives mean I have something for EVERY kind of cutting or slicing I need to do. The ceramic on stainless steel makes for very sharp knives that cut very easily.....the handles are beautiful and feel good in my hand. This is a very attractive and well-made set, and I love that they all have covers, so I can store them in their own drawer and protect them. Very pleased with this set!!

We just received this 13-piece Astercook Knife Set and initial impressions: it's quite a nice set. It's actually 6 knives, 6 sheaths for the knives and a kitchen shear. The wood handle really stands out and I did the paper cut test with the knives and they are sharp. The manual suggests handwashing these which won't be a problem with my wife since she always hand washes all our knives. I particularly like the sheaths for safety reasons inside the kitchen drawer considering the set doesn't come with a knife block. At $19.99 when I ordered it, it's an excellent value considering the price and varying functionalities from the 6 types of knives.

Decorative knives that are also completely functional. They are on the light side though and the wood handles likely will not hold up in a dishwasher despite the listing saying they are dishwasher safe. They don't come with a block, but each knife has a sheath you can slide them into. Scissors worked great cutting a cardboard box.
