  • Great ITX AM5 board
Style: Lightning WiFi
This is my first AMD build since my old FM3 build I did many years ago. I love building in SFF cases and since I've always had good luck with ASRock motherboards I figured I would give this one a shot. I am building in a Thermaltake Tower 200 case and while the case is a bigger SFF case its not without its issues. I paired this board with a 7700X and 32GB of Corsair 6000mt/s DDR5 memory. Once I got everything installed I pushed the power button and waited.....and waited.....and waited.....and waited. I thought something was wrong since I had no video image for almost 4 minutes and the computer restarted itself 6 times. Getting ready to power off the whole system thinking something was wrong, the last restart gave me an image on the screen and it loaded into BIOS. Fast forward about an hour I got Windows all up to date then I updated the BIOS to the current non-beta revision using the BIOS flashback function. I didn't feel comfortable updating BIOS within the BIOS since ASRock needs you do to a workaround to get a video image on a RTX 40 series card (I have a 4070ti super). Everything is working fine at this time with no issues. I have not experienced the extended load times into Windows like some people have. I load into Windows in about 6 seconds. All in all, I recommend this board to anyone wanting to do an AM5 mini ITX build. ... show more

  • Fantastic midrange/budget AM5 board with most of the features you want at sub-$200
Style: Lightning WiFi
My mom needed a desktop and I had a lot of mini ITX components laying around so I picked this board up to build a new horizon five base system and chose the Ryzen 5 5600 G obviosly w/ integrated graphics. Six cores and 12 threads is nothing crazy by today standards but this processor is extremely snappy and capable can actually hold its own for a budget gaming rig if you throw a midrange GPU on here but for a productivity machine couldn’t ask for more and as rock boards have always been solid Budget friendly alternatives to Acis when I can’t afford an ROG strix board, which is what I put in most of my own builds. I also have the Asrock b850i but I put my 7800x3d in the strix and popped my slightly less gamer-friendly 7700x and put that in the Asrock board. My one rules when buying motherboards today, if it uses a cheap sheet metal IO shield I avoid it. Only buy motherboards with a custom permanent shield for that board. Otherwise your build looks cheap. For a $200 board this one doesn’t look or feel cheap at all. If you were so inclined, you could probably overclock the hell out of this processor, but if anything I would make it run more efficiently by undergoing it or something but none of that’s necessary. This trip runs extra cool. I also did a sweet all white building for her….. ... show more

Excellent MB for the price. Would definitely buy again.

  • Stay away from ASRock this time.
Style: Lightning WiFi
You should not buy this MB! Completely died after less than one year, would just boot to a black screen. Before that there's just instability all around and total lack of waking up from sleep. Moved all parts back to a spare gigabyte MB and PSU combo and they worked perfectly. I also need to look up a CPU in the future because these are known to degrade CPUs and Asrock was pretty opaque about the entire situation. RMA would be more expensive for me to handle than the actual MB's cost, and I don't feel comfortable plopping my components on an ASRock board anymore. Pick up an MSI or just any other brand for ITX instead. ... show more

  • AsRock MBs are my go to
Style: Lightning WiFi
This is my second AsRock B650. The value is great. I've installed them in two different Fractal Design cases and I've not had a single installation issue. Boot times are fast, BIOS software is easy to undervolt CPU with. I've never had a Wi-Fi connection issue and it has all the features needed, except another M2 slot would be nice but with the space limits of the board, it's understandable. I will say that the second M2 slot is on the back so you will need a heat sink if you want to use it. ... show more

  • Undocumented feature of Motherboard
Style: Lightning WiFi
There is a conflict issue between the front side M.2 slot and the Ethernet port. If you use the main M.2 its says to use in the manual, the 2.5Gbps ethernet port becomes disabled. It will not be reported as a pcie device to your OS. I have worked ASRock Technical support and have received 3 B650I boards all with the same issue so its a design flaw.. If you use the 2nd M.2 slot that is on the underside of the board , leaving the topside empty there is no issue with the Ethernet port. Just beware of it possibly overheating on the underside. If you have room in your case put a heatsink on it. . ... show more

  • Reliable motherboard choice for a low-maintenance PC build
Style: Lightning WiFi
I used this with a Ryzen 7800X3D and haven't run into any significant problems, though the BIOS handling of EXPO timings felt somewhat unreliable and finicky. While I'm no pro, the stock timings didn't seem to match the specs of my RAM kit. The positive is that recent BIOS updates provide helpful PBO presets, making it simple to set all-core negative offsets of -10, -20, or -30, and adjust thermal limits. My recommendation: Turn on the standard EXPO profile, apply the most stable aggressive negative PBO offset your CPU allows, and stop there. Attempting to manually tweak RAM beyond the basic settings, even their own presets will likely lead to instability. It is also frustrating that there is a total lack of documentation for these newer BIOS features. ... show more

  • Small with all of the options I need.
Style: Lightning WiFi
This is a nice little board for my small form factor machine. I installed a 7000 series CPU and a low end Nvidia GPU. The built in WiFi turned out to be a better idea than I originally thought. I didn't install it with the thgouth of using the WiFi. I didn't install the antenna and turned it off. Then we moved the computer to another room and needed the WiFi. Installed the antenna and turned it on and it's working great. ... show more
