  • Five Stars
Excellent size plant. Hardy and well nourished on arrival. Quickly grew and produced pitcher/mokey cup flowers. Very pleased. Update: 9 months has passed since this purchase, and I'm happy to say this plant remains alive. It has grown considerably, and all the new growth is simply delightful. The two main stems have now become six or seven main stems, and each new leaf begins a new monkey cup, or pitcher. Nevermind that's these are carniverous plants. I relish their exotic looking blooms. The leaves remind me of those on orchids. Nepenthes are a really exquisite species of plant. Give yours a lot of bright, filtered light in a humid environment, or at least mist frequently. Use rainwater or distilled water rather than tap, since tap water contains chlorine that nepenthes may not like. Be sure to refill the cups with some water, too, since this seems to encourage health of the cup and leaf. A tablespoon or more in each will suffice, if they should not stay wet on their own due to evaporation or spill. They'll arrive emptied if water, but they'll live if you refill each with a little. You can also place a freeze dried cricket, meal worm (or other similar bait insect) down in the 'cups', or even a living bug you've captured for this purpose, into a water-filled "cup" to ensure your plant is getting all the necessary nourishment, but it is likely that some bugs will find their ways into the slippery, sticky blooms on their own. ... show more

  • Wonderful!!
Amazing plant. Sometimes the pictures in the description can be a bit misleading. Not the case here. Very nice and healthy looking. Pitchers were huge. Packed very well. Thank you!!!

  • Expensive, struggling to survive.
I ordered this plant by accident late one afternoon. About an hour or 2 later i realized my mistake and tried to contact seller but status was already updated to shipped and non-returnable. This never happens when i actually order something i want. I could have died when i got this poor little plant with 4 or so small leaves and tiny dead-topped pitchers, brown and sickly. Im dealing with it as i love my plants but with no way of contacting seller as the "shopping assistant" kept me in a frustrating virtual loop. So my only option left is to warn others to beware, dont pay $30.00 + for this overpriced sub-standard item. Just days later what really charred my chonies was when I saw what these plants are 'supposed' to look like when they're healthy at another store for $16.99. I almost choked, paying double for nothin like the healthy plants. It is also frustrating when there is no given way to contact some 3rd party sellers. I just dont think i should have to lose $32.00 just because. Usually there is a way to remedy such problems and thats alot of $$ for me to lose. I can't rate it as being 'warm' and it wasnt really 'damaged' it wasnt healthy as one would expect. Not giftable either so its more like sick, frustrated and cold. I mean even Home Depot and my local nursery has a plant return policy. And if its not returnable let there be a way to communicate at best to get info on how can it be helped or remedied. ... show more

  • She's Beautiful!!
If this type of plant is your thing, this seller has quality plants. I will purchase from this seller again. - well packaged - no damage during shipping - ready to hang right out of the box- the pot even had a hook. - appears to be very healthy with tons of new growth in all stages - from inch long pitchers to 5" pitchers - it functions like a carnivore should by eating insects that make it into the house - she is a beauty ... show more

  • WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND PURCHASE, BUT WITH CAUTION (Opinion 3 months after purchase)
Many of the excellent reviews here are people who just got their plant and are excited about how it looks - I imagine many die off in a month's time without proper care. Mine did come very healthy with about 12 pitchers, but be aware that the pitchers did undergo stress during shipment and refilling the pitchers with water will not prevent most (if not all) of the pitchers that it came with from dying over the course of a couple weeks. However, continue to water the soil with distilled/rain water (NO tap water and keep the soil moist but not in standing water), constant indirect sunlight throughout the day with a couple hours of direct sunlight, humidity levels of 50%+, and finally temps of 65 - 80 degrees F and it will soon replace the old pitchers with plenty of new, larger pitchers. As long as the leaves are healthy and new pitchers are coming in, it just takes time to adapt to its new environment. Keep it in one location under the right conditions - do NOT move it around so it doesn't have to readjust all over again. I'd give it several months before attempting to move it to a bigger pot, as that is stressful for the plant (update: after 6 months, I repotted it using 100% long-fiber spaghnum moss and it’s doing great!). For research purposes - I believe this species is Nepenthes ventrata. I only took off one star bc the sellers were unhelpful on care info and couldn’t even provide the species it is. Overall an easy plant to grow, given that you have some patience and give it the proper conditions mentioned earlier. P.S. I found misting to be a total waste of time and energy - invest in a humidifier if you are growing it in an indoor location with rather dry conditions. Good luck! (Picture is few months after purchase. Update: a couple years out and it’s still doing great!) ... show more
