While I bought this is a small hot plate for my mocha pot while traveling, I have quickly discovered an additional purpose, even more frequently used. It has ended up on my desk as a coffee cup warmer. It's much better. I think than the normal devices sold as cup warmers. While it will hold a temperature in the 120 to 130° range, the dial is infinitely variable and can keep easily sustain a cup of brew warm in the 160 or 170° range if you choose. I think it makes my coffee much more drinkable and much more. The temperature where I enjoy it. And unexpected surprise! The only very small quibble, is a desktop warmer thermostat audibly clicks an analog relay to start the heat and clicks when it shuts off. Not a lot, but just not like a digital warmer. ... show more

I bought this for our road trip this past week. Tested it out at home before we left once, and used it for the first 4 mornings to heat a small kettle of water for coffee, and after that it no longer worked at all. The seller did provide a full refund though without issue, so at least if you have a problem with the unit, they stand behind their product. ... show more

This portable hotplate is a powerhouse! According to a thermometer, it can get up to 900+ degrees Fahrenheit. I can finally cook things again and sit down while doing it! It's a lifesaver for cooking a small meal when you have POTS! I've used it to make crepes with a mini pan, and it worked perfectly! I highly recommend getting it for its portability, power, and the fact that it is so efficient and well built that you could literally stick a finger directly under the running hot plate in between it and the table/counter and not get burned due to the heat dispersion.     • A nice small hot plate with low current draw
I'm using this on an inverter that runs off of a 12vdc battery, so the low power it draws was a key consideration for me. It's small size is perfect for a small espresso pot or small pan. I've been using it for making espresso, eggs, and grill cheese sandwiches. I've used it with both 3 & 9-cup espresso pots. The 9-cup uses about 5 amp-hours of power from the battery to make a single batch. It's a good fit for my needs. On max heat, it puts out more than I expected. You can burn things with this if you don't keep an eye on what you are making. The one down side is that the cooking surface does seem susceptible to rust. ... show more
