This is the first ever rice cooker I have ever bought or used. So I may have no basis for comparison, but so far it is a very handy thing to have in the kitchen. Just put in the ingredients and enough water, push the switch down, and wait for the cooking cycle to end -- plus a few minutes on warm mode for it to cool off a little. I've been cooking beans, rice, peppers, onions, potatoes, steamed broccoli, most anything else I want to throw in there, and generally it turns out great as long as I use the right proportion of ingredients to water. It took a few tries to get a proportion I like. If there are any downsides, it's that this unit is a bit small and barebones. For example, there is no option for different settings, and there is no alert when it's done (although the switch going back to warm makes a distinctive noise). That's why it's on the cheap side, but it cooks just fine. I see myself using this for quite some time. It's convenient, healthy, and the food turns out better than a microwave could manage. This is such a mighty rice cooker! We make sushi a lot so this was so very helpful! Makes rice perfect every time! No more crunchy rice! We add 2 cups of water & 2 cups of cleaned rice, plug it in, clock the heat/on button and leave it do it's thing. It's usually about a half hour, then it turns it to the warm position automatically! After the half hour mark, we add sugar, a pinch of salt, rice vinegar, and stir. Then let it stay covered and on warm for about 20-30 mins more and it's ready to use/eat! Def a great buy! Only thing we noticed is if you don't stir after 25-30 mins it starts to burn rice a bit, so def stir so the rice on bottom gets moved around. ... show more

So I was watching videos on Japanese foods and got hungry. After hours of looking at food, I wanted the same fluffy rice. It took two days to ship. I had to test the cooker right after opening the box. Wow! The rice was fluffy and delicious. I suck at cooking fluffy rice. I never could figure it out. This rice cooker has changed my life! I can now have yummy fluffy rice whenever I want. Meals have been built around the rice that comes out of this cooker. I even use the steamer for vegetables.
