This roof cargo carrier is a solid option for anyone who needs additional storage space for camping gear, luggage, coolers, sporting equipment, or other bulky items that won't fit inside the vehicle. Once assembled, it feels sturdy and well-built without being excessively heavy, and I really like the design that allows the front and rear sections to be lowered when transporting longer items. That flexibility makes it much more useful than many fixed basket-style carriers. The overall construction is strong enough to inspire confidence when loaded, and the finished product looks good on the vehicle. The multiple crossbars and reinforced frame provide plenty of support for heavier cargo, and the large storage area makes road trips and outdoor adventures much easier when interior space is limited. My biggest criticism is the assembly process and quality control. I am very comfortable assembling products and generally don't have much trouble with complicated instructions, but this carrier still took me about three hours to put together because of the large number of components involved. Unfortunately, the assembly was made even more difficult by several manufacturing issues. One lower center bar had the mounting holes drilled on the wrong side, requiring me to drill new holes myself. Another connection point had incomplete machining that required drilling and punching out the remaining material before assembly could continue. In addition, one of the crossbars arrived missing a plastic end cap, forcing me to improvise with a couple of rubber spacers. While none of these problems ultimately prevented assembly, they definitely shouldn't have made it through quality control. Buyers who aren't comfortable making minor modifications may find the process frustrating. That said, after working through the issues, the final result is a sturdy, very versatile, stable, functional, and highly useful cargo carrier that performs exactly as intended. If the manufacturer tightened up quality control and reduced some of the assembly complexity, this would easily be a five-star product. As it stands, it's still a good value and a capable cargo solution—just be prepared to invest some time during assembly and possibly do a little troubleshooting along the way.

This roof rack cargo basket has completely changed the usefulness of my Highlander. Assembly was long and a bit tedious, but still pretty straightforward and easy to follow overall. It fits perfectly on my 04 Highlander. Once installed, it instantly made the vehicle look way tougher and more rugged, which is a nice bonus on top of the functionality. The extra storage space is the real win here. It’s huge and lets me carry gear, luggage, and oversized items without cramming the interior. It’s been especially useful for trips where space is tight inside the vehicle. The build feels solid and the foldable fairing is a nice touch for reducing wind resistance. Honestly, I could go on and on about how much more practical this makes my SUV. It’s one of those upgrades you don’t realize you needed until you have it. Easy 10/5.

This review is for the ARKSEN 82" x 39" x 6" Roof Rack Cargo Basket with Foldable Fairing, 250 lbs Heavy Duty Steel Rooftop Carrier, Ideal for Kayaks & Luggage, Fits SUV, Truck, Pickup. When I ordered this rack, I didn't know if it would fit the rack I currently have on my truck, so after receiving it, that was the first thing I check. Fortunately, this will mount onto my rack perfectly. The roof rack is a little lighter than I thought it would be, but I guess that's to help save weight. Installing it rack was pretty easy. It took less than an hour to put the rack together, but as almost always the case with kits you put together, the last screw would not go in. No matter how much I tried adjusting the last piece, the screw would not go in all of the way to connect to the bolt on the other side. It turns out that there was no hole exit hole drilled through that last rod, which was already installed at the factory. All I had to do was screw through that last rod, but it wouldn't go through. The only way I found out that the rod didn't have a hole on the other side was when I took a paperclip and inserted it into the screw hole. It went in fine through the front but something was blocking it about 1" in. I wound up getting a 1/4" drill bit to drill out that hole. Unfortunately, since everything was already put together, I had to disassemble a couple rods just so I could reach that hole. Not a big issue, just an inconvenience. Once I drilled through to the back of the rod, the screw went in without any further problems. This troubleshooting took an extra 30 minutes just fiddling with that last step. By the time I was finished getting everything put together, the sun was already blazing on top of me so I'm going to install this thing tomorrow. The rack does feel pretty stable, but that was when it was on the ground. I don't see any stability issues once it's installed, but if there is, I'll report back on it.

Assembly took a little time but everything lined up properly in the end. Items is packaged nicely with everything in assorted boxes. Configuration was relatively straightforward forward with one incident in mixing up the bars in the middle. Those are not threaded and overlap the rear and front bars. After configuring and tightening all of the bolts, they feel as those they are easily going to strip under pressure. You can’t get every screw as snug as you’d like for something carrying your cargo, especially with weight. Only time will tell how well it will hold up. The front and back being able to open and lay flat is a nice added bonus. However, based on the material and build of this item, I don’t think the price matches the quality. But, that’s just my opinion.
